PS3 Poll Police: What does Capcom have up its sleeve?

It's that time of the week again. The Poll Police are going to keep this one short, since the poll speaks for itself. This past week, the PS3 lost a game that many, many people were looking forward to. A game that would have had PS3's jumping off of shelves in Japan like they were infested with some kind of jumping infestation. The police don't work with similes, just facts. Capcom canned Monster Hunter 3 for the PS3, but promised a big announcement certain to please PS3 fans by the end of next week. Our poll and your task: what is it?

What is Capcom's big PS3-related surprise due next week?
The recently trademarked "Dead Void".
It's actually Monster Hunter 3, Capcom was joking.
Devil May Cry 4 returns exclusive?
MegaMan Legends 3!
Resident Evil 5 becomes exclusive!
Who cares, Capcom already wronged us enough.
It's none of those, but something new, probably.
pollcode.com free polls

We can't say for certain, but the trademarking of a game title and subsequent may be too close together for this announcement and the moving from multiplatform back to exclusive seems to go against Capcom's "multiplatform everything" ideology (though by that they seem to mean everything but PS3). We can't decide, so hopefully you can steer us in the right direction. Last week's results are after the jump.

What an amazing result! We asked if backwards compatibility was really such an important issue, and the results are the most interesting we've ever seen -- a nearly perfect split between people who do and don't care about the function. We're glad to see most of you had heard of the issue and opted not to vote for the "I don't want to make a decision" option. In the end, it seems the Sony gaming market, with a slight edge to not giving a darn about BC, are perfectly split. Luckily, PS2's are getting insanely cheap, so if you need to collect PS2 games, there's always that option instead of seeking the higher-end model while it lasts. What a conundrum! We'll see you next week, and as always, thanks for voting.

21. Not really caring for Capcom too much these days. After the arcade days were over for them, the PS1 kept them alive and the PS2 made them rich. Now they forget all about their buddy Sony and are whoring themselves to Microsoft. I know, it's business, but Japanese companies usually show more loyalty than this with business relationships.

22. Street Fighter 4 ps3 exclusive.

Or, what would be really great, big budget Phoenix Wright ps3 exclusive. Heh.

24. Capcom hurt me with Monster Hunter 3 on Wii. The only feature I wanted from a Monster Hunter game is online and now its on Wii so friend codes ahoy!

25. I'm appalled at the lack of 2d fighter options in the poll.

26. I reckon it will probably be a video of them celebrating the rise in their share price as they switch all their games to other formats downloadable on the PSN.

You can use the SixAxiS to shake angrily at them. Although this feature will be poorly implemented and the video will run at half the frame rate it should.

27. Wow Sammy. That was pretty damn harsh.

28. i'd only be happy if it's more than one game , otherwise it is like trading off monster hunter with some random game (if it is a new ip). announcement would probably be something really truly lame.

30. I'm sorry... I was fairly tired when I wrote that. It was just meant to be a bit of satire...nothing based on any format based bias.

I was not trying to stir any trouble.

I hope Capcom show something really nice for the system it would be a breath of fresh air to see something new, but if they want to sell PS3s I guess it will have to be an established franchise.

31. Capcom don't give a damn about PS owners. PS1 owners made the Resident Evil series a massive hit, then the PS2 came out and we got rewearded with NOTHING exclusive except Outbreak, an online game that turned up offline only. A total waste of time.

Code Veronica X was a Dream-cast-off with controls which should have died with the PS1 versions, and Resi 4 was a Gamecube cast-off that was a year late (although the extra content was a nice addition).

Now Resi 5 and DMC 4 have gone multi-format, Monster Hunter has gone exclusive to Wii (after PSP owners made it a million seller in Japan alone) and Lost Planet and Dead Rising show no signs of ever appearing on PS3.

At least we got Okami, but pretty much ALL Capcom news I've heard for the last 2 years has been BAD news for PS owners. So if they think they've got news to please me, it's going to have to be pretty phuqq'n amazing news, because as a PlayStation kind of guy, I've been feeling nothing but screwed by Capcom since the last game of their's that made me truly happy, DMC 1.

32. i've said it before, i'll say it again.
it's none of these things.
the announcement is for the new Bionic Commando game.
anyone wanna put some money down on this?

Posted at 12:56PM on Oct 15th 2007 by Solace

33. Capcom would like to make money this generation so dont expect many, if any exclusive titles for the PS3.

Posted at 1:26PM on Oct 15th 2007 by Pretty Obvious

34. Solace, how are you so confident that its bionic commando? im not much for bringing back old franchises, so id be disapointed
