PS3 Poll Police: How did you feel about TGS '07?

The Poll Police have pulled out of their duties in Tokyo, as the Tokyo Game Show winds down. We believe it was T.S. Eliot who once said "This is the way Tokyo Game Show ends; not with a bang, but a whimper." Well, if Eliot were a gamer, we're sure that'd be true. Anyhow, we've got our opinions about the show for this year, but we're curious about what you thought. So, our poll for this week is quite simple: what impression did you take away from TGS?
TGS '07: What did you think?
I thought it was a pretty exciting show.
It was neither here nor there on my radar.
I thought it was sort of tame.
It was bad.
pollcode.com free polls
We don't know if it was the plethora of trailers and moderate dearth of playables, or the delay of Home, or the already-common-knowledge announcement of the DualShock 3, but TGS was missing a bang this year. Our personal opinion -- don't vote just to agree. However, you should check out our results from last week's poll after the jump. Technically, most of you should have been pleased.
So, that's that. We did get to see a new trailer for FFXIII and lots of MGS4 content, even though the former was behind closed doors and we won't get to show that trailer to you quite yet. As for the rest of the votes, well, you may or may not be happy about the show floor in Tokyo. That's all for this week, so check back next week to see how your peers viewed TGS this year. As always, we appreciate your continued support by voting!

5. I was really hyped. We got to see some new White Knight Story footage, but I was really hoping for more. I thought there would be a demo on the Japanese store of some TGS game; Crisis Core, WKS, FFXIII, Folklore, or anything else for that matter. The store dissapaointed, though, with a bigger US update than a Japanese one! I just hope there is some TGS content (HD Final Fantasy or White Knight trailers) there next week.

6. I don't much care for Metal Gear and I didn't get to see the FFXIII that I'm hearing so much about. Ergo, I was not impressed.

I blame you, PS3 Fanboy.

8. Where were the "three big announcements" by Capcom? I'm still waiting for that.

MGS4 did rock my world.

9. I blame the fact that the PS3 sucks right now. Don't call me a troll. Don't call me an Xbot. I own a PS3. Am I happy I spent the coin on it that I did? That's yet to be seen. But right now, I am getting impatient waiting on good, strike that, GREAT games. HS was cool. Kinda short, but pretty fun. Other than that, I have been fairly unimpressed. And to be honest, the upcoming library isn't THAT exciting. Yeah, I might get a couple games, but where is our Bioshock, Gears of War (DON'T even TRY to say RFOM!!), Zelda: TP, or MP3???!?!??!!?

Now you have Jack Tretton downplaying the PS3's slow start... that is never good ladies and gentlemen. Anytime someone has to back up their product as oppsed to letting its sales speak for themselves is A VERY BAD thing....

10. I'm seriously disappointed. Not only is the Dualshock 3 not out till spring, but it's the same seriously weak rumble as what was in the Dualshock 2! What the hell happened to immersion's new rumble tech and/or touchsense? WTF?

Posted at 7:57PM on Sep 23rd 2007 by Stef Geiger

11. I honestly feel as if the PS3 shouldn't have been released yet. And at times, I feel cheated that Sony is using it as a Trojan Horse to get Blu-Ray into households...

Just needed to vent...

Posted at 7:58PM on Sep 23rd 2007 by Jon

12. Stef,

Touchsense is another Sony idea that probably exists on paper but not production...

I agree with you about Dual Shock 3. If it is the SAME as Dual Shock 2, why didn't we get it before?!?!?!?!?

ENOUGH WITH THE LIES!

16. @sicklesdawg

Do you really think I care who did better than Sony at TSG? Who is DOING better than Sony RIGHT NOW??

Umm, that would be the Wii and 360 huh? Cuz last time I checked, the PS3 doesn't do too hot in terms of sales. Not only that, but their gaming libary is complete SHIT. Sony has some kick ass games coming out in 2010! YAYYYYYY!!!!!!!!

I don't care if they PS2's lifecycle was 10 years. These next gen consoles are NOT gonna be like that.

Posted at 8:24PM on Sep 23rd 2007 by Jon

17. @Jon and Stef -

You guys are seriously unsatisfied with your PS3s. While I agree that the PS3 library isn't strong as the 360, it is a whole lot stronger than the 360 was in its first year. In fact, I dare say that the PS3's holiday lineup is just as strong as the 360's, unless you are a major Halo fan, in which case you would have a 360 anyways. The only games 360 has that PS3 doesn't is Mass Effect, Eternal Sonata (until 2008), PGR4, Dead Rising, and Fable 2. I don't count Gears of War since it is available on the PC.

As for the hands-on for the new rumble sixaxis, a 15-min try with one that is probably more of a prototype isn't really the same as trying it yourself. Wasn't the reason it wasn't included initially because of the lawsuit by Immersion technology?

As for good games coming out by 2010? Here's a full list of good exclusives coming after 2007, most of them are gonna arrive in 2008:

Disgaea 3
God of War III
Gran Turismo 5
Driver 5
Eight Days
Fifth Phantom Saga
Final Fantasy XIII
Final Fantasy Versus XIII
Hot Shots Golf 5
Jack and Daxter: The Lost Frontier
Killzone 2
LittleBigPlanet
Metal Gear Online
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
Monster Hunter 3
MotorStorm 2
SingStar
Shin Megumi Tensei: Persona 4
Steambot Chronicles
Star Ocean 4
Tekken 6
Valkyrie of the Battlefield
White Knight Story
Yakuza 3

Seriously, if you are just gonna complain about the console like this, you might find more sympathy over at the 360 fan site, though they are a bit engrossed into Halo 3 at the moment.

18. i like how you all bitch about something that hasnt even been out for a year. Wheres this wheres that... wheres your patience. Really .. lets go back to 360 when it launched.. IT HAD NOTHIGN and i mean nothing worth buying untill what game came out...right you guessed it GEARS. Stop bitching about this game and that game. Were getting MGS4 and were getting it a year after the ps3 launch.

As for rumble... you guys bitched about how there wasnt no rumble now you have it and your still complaining??? what more can you do with rumble? it rumbles thats what rumble means it fuckng shakes my god what more do you want??? I was listening to 1up.com podcast and they did say the DUALSHOCK 3 is differnt then DUALSHOCK2.

As for sales.. wow how many times has SOny launched a system and it was in last place when it launched? ALl the time and it always catches up. You guys dont knwo how to wait your always about the NOW. Stop bitching nothings gonna happen to sony

20. TGS07 for Sony was basically MS' E3.07 ... we all knew what was coming, so, there was nothing mindblowing.

And, yea, I was expect Firmware 2.0 info
