Blu-ray sales growing, PS3 getting interactivity update

Blu-ray is, once again, dominating over HD DVD. One film in particular - the new record holder for highest selling dual format HD movie - was recognized as being a huge boon for the format. 300 on Blu-Ray outsold its HD-DVD counterpart by a ratio of 2:1. Total sales now exceed 400,000 across both platforms. 300, in particular, resonated quite well with the PS3 demographic.

PS3 will also receive a firmware update in the future which will "boost its Blu-ray interactivity functionality." Hi-Def Digest thinks it might be be an upgrade which allows the PS3 to support Blu-Ray Profile Spec 1.1. Currently, many Blu-ray discs are crippled by the lack of Java interactivity. A simple firmware update should make Blu-ray even more competitive and give it access to high definition content that's been exclusive on HD DVD.

23. Someone has to counter all the FUD and propaganda that is spewed on this website both by the authors and the posters...

That being said however the only reason I come to ps3fanboy is to see if theres any news about Final Fantasy XIII and also to see what the enemy's up to these days...

24. “That being said however the only reason I come to ps3fanboy is to see...what the enemy's up to these days...”

Do you not thing that’s somewhat of a messed up view? We’re not “the enemy” just because we have different tastes in consoles. I don’t want an Xbox 360 as it doesn’t have any games that appeal to me but I understand that people have different tastes in games and can see why they might want an Xbox 360. This doesn’t cause me to break into fits of rage and I don’t feel the need to go to Xbox360 and abuse the site and readers so I really don’t see why you do.

As for your claims of “propaganda” in this article, the news that 300 on Blu-ray outsold the HD-DVD by a ratio of 2:1 is a fact based on sales figures. Do a Google search for “300 Blu-ray hd-dvd 2:1” and you’ll find many reputable sites reporting the news. Where’s the propaganda in reporting the news? Please explan.

25. I don't even know what the F**k FUD is.

But I know when Charles owns somebody.

(and I still crack up at 23's name. You're TheForceUnleased08. So, like, I guess you have the force (level 08, maybe?), and it's "Unleased." So, do you like, rent it? You're obviously not leasing it, that's in your title, which clearly states, "Unleased". Do you own the Force? But if you own it, why would you point out in your name that you don't lease it? Wouldn't you call yourself ForcePwnage?

Dude, you are totally leasing the Force! And you have been leasing it for "08" months and you still haven't figured out the controls!

Oh, you meant UNLEASHED. You meant that you are the Force, UNLEASHED, level 08. So you're like, a black-belt, or something, with the Force.

26. read this http://kotaku.com/gaming/hd-format-wars/hd-dvd-beating-out-blu+ray-309771.php

hd dvd has a sub $250 hd dvd player coming out this holiday season so that could help more sales and hd dvd sales arent including desktop and laptop that have hd dvd [layer built in which would be a major boost in units moved! blu-ray has a clearer picture but hd dvd will win!

27. "Dude, you are totally leasing the Force! And you have been leasing it for "08" months and you still haven't figured out the controls!"

John, that was classic, I seriously lol! And then you say to him, "So you're like a black-belt, or something, with the Force." [email protected]#$%ing Hilarious!

Aren't these trolls funny. Denial is such a strong emotion, and to come on this site to deny the FACT that blu-ray is wiping the floor with the competition is almost like denial in it's purest form.
