Worldwide PS3 releases for the week of October 28

The Christmas season continues this week with another full list of game releases. While not quite as stellar as last week, this week is still a pretty good week for games and next week proves to be even better. Here's the full release list:

US Games
  • Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction (again!)
  • Guitar Hero III

Ratchet and Clank's official release is this week, so those of you who haven't been able to find a retailer who got an early shipment won't have much longer to wait. Guitar Hero III is actually available today - as in, right now. So go get it!

Your PS3 is region free so feel free to import any of the above games. Having said that, however, we're intrigued to find out about Guitar Hero III's downloadable content will importers be able to download new tracks without an American credit card? If you know, we'd love to find out.

American PSN update for October 25th

This is the post we've been waiting to write for months. Thursdays have been referred to as "screw over Europe" day in the PS3 Fanboy office for quite some time now, but finally we get to deliver some great news. The American PSN Store Update is worse than the European's. There, we said it. Here's the full release list:
  • EyeCreate PlayStation Eye application(free)
  • Spyro the Dragon PS1 game for PS3/PSP ($5.99)
  • Piyotama Halloween skin add-on (free)
  • Ninja Gaiden Sigma "Rachel Master" add-on ($2.99)

Overall, it's not terrible. At least there's a new PS1 game - and you thought Sony had forgotten about those. Now, if you'll excuse us, we're going to sneak off and bask in the immense feeling of self-satisfaction we feel right now. Plus, we have some PlayStation Eye games to play.

European PSN updates for October 25th

As if the imminent release of several games on our retail shelves wasn't enough, today's PSN update is one of the biggest we've ever had. The playable content weighs in at four games and two demos and comes with a healthy portion of trailers and game add ons. Here's the full release list:
  • Pixel Junk Racers full game (£4.99)
  • Aqua Vita PlayStation Eye game (£1.99)
  • Operation Creature Feature PlayStation Eye game (£3.49)

  • Metal Gear Online TGS trailer (free)
  • Courage Under Fire Blu-Ray trailer (free)
  • Beowulf movie trailer (free)
  • Stardust movie trailer (free)
Not bad, eh? Not bad at all. Good luck getting onto the store, however. At the time of writing we're currently timing out on every connection attempt. Once we finally get on we're excited to try out the first Folklore downloadable content and, come tomorrow, the new PlayStation Eye titles.

[Thanks Ciaran!]

Worldwide PS3 releases for the week of October 21

Merry Christmas! Well, not quite yet perhaps - but the holiday season officially begins this week with the first huge weekly game drop which should continue on through to the beginning of December. Disappointed with the PS3's current lineup? You've come to the right place - the full release list is as follows:

US Games
  • Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction
  • The Eye of Judgment
  • Clive Barker's Jericho
  • Conan
  • Juiced 2: Hot Import Nights
  • Ratatouille
EU Games
  • Juiced 2: Hot Import Nights
  • Clive Barker's Jericho
  • The Eye of Judgment
  • Pro Evolution Soccer 2008
Asian Games
  • The Eye of Judgment
  • Imabi Kisou
Pro tip time! We've received word that Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 is being shipped early by the online retailer - and by "early" we mean "now". So if you can't wait until Friday (and we have a feeling a lot of you can't) then what are you waiting for? We're really happy to see Eye of Judgment being released in all three territories during the same week. The cards will be released at the same time in booster packs and preconstructed decks. All together now - "Goodbye moneys!"

Don't forget your PS3 is region free for games so put you importing gloves (what do you mean you don't have a pair?) on and do your thing. We certainly have. Release dates are in a constant state of flux so check with your local store before you head out into the Real World.

American PSN updates for October 18th

This week's update might not be too exciting, but at least you get a brand new demo: Juiced 2. For those that missed Jaffe's downloadable game, check it out at its new, lower price.
  • Game: Calling All Cars! (New price: $4.99. Valid until October 25th)
  • Demo: Folklore
  • Demo: Juiced 2
  • Game Videos: Devil May Cry 4 TGS trailer; Turok "Dino Luring"; Uncharted "Tech Dive"; Burnout Paradise "Street Wheels"
  • Movie Trailers: Rail & Ties, Incubus Alive at Red Rocks, Underworld
  • Wallpapers: Eye of Judgment
Those uninterested in Juiced 2 may want to wait until tomorrow. The Japanese Store will have the GT5: Prologue demo tomorrow.

Worldwide PS3 releases for the week of October 14

This week's release list is US only, for some reason. With so many games being released next week, surely it makes sense to bring one or two forward and cash in on what is, frankly, a very slow week. Don't be disheartened though - keep plowing through Folklore and before you know it another five worthwhile games will have been released. Seriously - next week is insane. However, here's the full release list for this week:

US Games
  • Oblivion Game of the Year Edition
  • Tony Hawk's Proving Ground
EU Games
  • No new releases
Asian Games
  • No new releases
Confusingly, Gamestop have booster packs and preconstructed decks for Eye of Judgment listed for release on the 15th. That's a full week before the game itself comes out. We'll be keeping an eye out to see if this is truly the case. If so, you can bet we'll be stocking up so that we're truly ready for when the game comes out. Check back this time next week for a, frankly, indecent list of new releases.

American PSN updates for October 11th

So the European PSN update may not have been up to snuff, but today's American updates have finally been listed on the PlayStation.Blog. This week we're happy to see Everyday Shooter finally being released alongside the Ratchet and Clank demo. Best update ever? This is certainly a contender for the title. The full release list is as follows:
  • Everyday Shooter full game ($9.99)
  • Ratchet and Clank demo (free)
  • Conan demo (free)
  • NHL 2K8 demo (free)
  • Uncharted behind the scenes video (free)
  • Folklore trailer (free)
  • Fallout 3 trailer (free)
  • Ratchet and Clank wallpaper (free)
  • Everyday Shooter wallpaper (free)
  • The Assassination of Jesse James movie trailer (free)
  • Spiderwick Chronicles movie trailer (free)
  • Walk Hard movie trailer (free)

European PSN updates for October 11th

The European PSN has been updated. There are no signs of a Ratchet and Clank demo (looks like another week of sneaking over to the US store and pinching their stuff), or anything else particularly interesting for that matter. Here's the full release list:
  • Tiger Woods 08 demo (free)
  • The Simpsons demo (free)
  • Ninja Gaiden Sigma Weapon Master add-on pack (£2.99)
  • Pixel Junk Racers trailer (free)
  • Fallout 3 teaser trailer (free)
  • Lair trailers (free)
  • Pixel Junk Racers wallpaper (free)
  • Lair wallpaper (free)
  • Folklore wallpaper (free)
  • Men of Honor Blu-Ray trailer
  • Planet of the Apes Blu-Ray trailer
The Ninja Gaiden Sigma add-ons keep coming this week with the Weapon Master pack. Other that there's very little else that hasn't already been available on the US store for at least a week. The Fallout 3 trailer may be the most worthwhile download here. For those of you more excited about interactive content, sit tight and wait for the US update. The Ratchet and Clank demo is on its way.

Worldwide PS3 releases for the week of October 7

Happy Folklore week! Sure, Japan has had it for a couple of months now but since then we've been waiting patiently for the localisation process to be completed. This week our waiting pays off. But Folklore isn't the only big hitter to be released this week. Here's the full release list:

US Games
  • FIFA 08
  • Folklore
  • Sega Rally Revo
European Games
  • Skate
  • NBA 08
  • Folklore
Asian Games
  • NBA Live 08
  • Rise From Lair
  • The Godfather: The Don's edition
Not a bad haul. We're really pleased to see that Folklore is being released in the same week in Europe and America. We're also happy to see Skate finally get its PS3 release over in Europe. As for Asia, we're intrigued to see how well Lair (named Rise From Lair over there) sells, considering its critical acclaim.

Don't forget, if there's a game on the list that looks interesting to you then feel free to order it, regardless of territory. Your PS3 loves games from other regions. Release dates are subject to constant change, so make sure you check with your local store before venturing out of the house.

European PSN updates for October 4th

Remember when SCEE stated that they'd be "fixing" the PSN updates in Europe? Today seems to be the first step in that direction. It's a small step, but we're getting there. Four demos is nothing to be sniffed at, especially when one of them is being released on the EU and US PSN stores simultaneously. Here's the full release list:
Still, when compared to the US update there's definite room for improvement. No Go! Sports Ski? Oh well, maybe next week. Until then, enjoy your demos (even if you've had most of them downloaded for a week from the US store).

American PSN updates for October 4th

Strangely, Sony has updated the to reflect tomorrow's update. As of writing, none of this content is available for download -- but at least you'll know what's coming. The biggest surprise? The motion-enabled Go! Sports Ski is incredibly affordable.
  • Game: Go! Sports Ski ($2.99)
  • Demo: The Simpsons
  • Demo: Bladestorm: The Hundred Years War
  • Tutorials: NBA 08 and Eye of Judgment
  • Game Videos: Uncharted Behind the Scenes; Haze developer interview; Metal Gear Online trailer
  • Movie Trailers: Tekkonkinkreet, Surf's Up

Worldwide PS3 releases for the week of September 30

Looking for a new game this week? We hope you like the NBA, because that's pretty much all that's on the menu. Three separate NBA games are being released by three different publishers this week. Here's the full release list:

US Game
  • NBA Live 08
  • NBA 2K8
  • NBA 08
European Games
  • Madden NFL 08
  • According to reader tip, SingStar is also available in Sweden.
Asian Games
  • Heavenly Sword
  • NBA 08
Pretty slow week unless you're an NBA fan. It's nice to see that Asia is getting Heavenly Sword and we hope to see some decent sales figures from that. Japan, in particular, love their stories and while the gameplay in Heavenly Sword isn't anything too special, the story is worth the purchase. Next week things start hotting up as we head into the holiday season. We hope you've been saving up - the next few months are going to be expensive.

Your PS3 is region free and can play any game from any region, so if you're a European NBA fan, don't lose heart. Release dates are constantly subject to change so make sure you call your local store before leaving the house.

European PSN updates for September 27th

It's that time of week again. The European PSN Store has been updated with a reasonable amount of content this week. We're not about to start shouting Sony's praises yet, however. The US has still had a much nicer amount than us for the past few weeks. Enough moaning, here's the release list:
  • Folklore demo (free)
  • SEGA Rally demo (free)
  • Motorstorm Capitano and Varjack vehicle pack (£1.49)
  • Motorstorm Arizona and Patriot vehicle pack (£1.49)
  • Ninja Gaiden Speed Master game pack (£2.99)
  • Spider-Man 3 New Goblin game pack (£3.99)
  • Warhawk wallpapers (free)
  • Heavenly Sword wallpapers (free)
  • Feel Ski trailer (free)
  • inFAMOUS trailer (free)
  • Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 trailer (free)

demo? Didn't we already get that during Leipzig? Good question. The description claims that this demo is new, but we won't be able to let you know for sure until it has finished downloading. The Motorstorm and Ninja Gaiden game packs keep on coming, which is nice to see. The really weird thing about this update is the inFAMOUS trailer. The description reads "Straight out of E3 2007, watch our trailer ... ", seemingly without irony. We've had two game shows happen since E3 and no videos from Tokyo Game Show are up. Has anyone really not downloaded this from the US store yet?

[Thanks Singularity and Ciaran!]

American PSN updates for September 27th

The US PSN Store has yet to be updated but still we know what's due to be released. How do we do it? Witchcraft? Voodoo? The Cell processor's built in time-machine feature (it's there, trust us). Actually, none of those things. We check the PlayStation.Blog, just like everyone else. Here're todays upcoming updates:
  • Clive Barker's Jericho demo (free)
  • NBA 2K8 demo (free)
  • Motorstorm Capitano vehicle pack ($0.99)
  • Ninja Gaiden Speed Master game pack ($unknown)
  • NBA 08 Upside Progression System tutorial video (free)
  • Eye of Judgment overview video (free)
  • Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock trailer (free)
  • Iron Man film trailer (free)
  • We Own The Night film trailer (free)
Demos for everyone! By "everyone" we mean "PS3 and 360 owners." Today marks the first time that people have got the same demos on the same day, regardless of their console choice. We're excited to try out and curious to see whether the demo will make an impact on which of the three basketball games being released next week people will pick up.

Worldwide PS3 releases for the week of September 24th

Whoosh! That's the sound of games literally flying off the production lines and onto shelves. Today's release list is possibly the best yet. Remember when we were having weeks like these? Thank goodness those are over. Here's the full release list:

US Games
  • Skate
  • World Series of Poker 2008
EU Games
  • Stuntman: Ignition
  • SEGA Rally
  • FIFA 08
  • Ratatouille
Asian Games
  • Warhawk
  • The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
This week at least one high profile game being released in each territory. We're intrigued to see how Oblivion and Warhawk will do over there here in Japan. All of these games are subject to the constant change in whim of the Game Fates, so don't start moaning if any last-minute delays occur. It's not our fault.

If you see something on that list that you like the look of, but it's not in your region, then don't fret. Simply import the game and play it on your region free PS3. Simple. Which titles will you be picking up?
