Blu-ray movie releases for the week of October 28

Quickly scanning this week's Blu-ray releases, it's hard to notice anything but Spider-Man 3 or its trilogy, but if you're a tree-hugging hippie, you'll definitely be in for a treat.
  • Spider-Man: The High Definition Trilogy
  • Spider-Man 3
  • David Gilmour: Remember That Night
  • The Polar Express
  • Exotic Saltwater Aquarium
  • Fireplace: Visions of Tranquility
  • HDScape Sampler
  • License to Wed
  • Antarctica Dreaming: Wildlife on Ice
  • HD Window: Hawaii
  • Visions of the Sea: Explorations
  • Serenity: Southern Seas
  • HD Window: The Great Southwest
  • Digital Video Essentials
  • StarGaze II: Visions of the Universe
Although there's 15 releases this week, it definitely isn't the strongest lineup we've seen. However, we're pretty excited to finally see Digital Video Essentials heading our way.

2. you know im picking up Fireplace: Visions of Tranquility. ive had that crap on pre-order since day one.

3. Skip the trilogy, the first movie looks terrible, almost no better than an upscaled dvd. The second one looks a bit better, but not worth all the extra money you pay for the trilogy. On top of that, neither of the first 2 films have ANY special features at all. Expect a "fully-featured remastered" individual release for the first 2 movies next year. In the meantime, the trilogy is just to lure in suckers who can't wait (like I was dumb enough to do). Just buy the 3rd movie if you have to and rent the rest for now.

8. Sony pictures makes very average movies. As a company Sony is great to be on the BRD side. But as far as movies go they are worthless.

9.
Space Butler is a 360 fanboy stuck with a crappy HD-DVD add on. No Spidey for him, so he has to bash it! Lol, sucks to be you!

10. According to the Amazon link above, and Hi-Def Digest, Digital Video Essentials has been delayed, with Amazon saying its delayed until March. Might wanna remove it off the list.

11. Spidey 3's going to be awesome on Blu-Ray. I'll be picking up the 3-pack, though.

Also, if this is any indication, Blu-Ray's doing pretty well: At my local big box store, the Blu_Ray movies have about 4 times more shelf space than HD-DVD ones. Still, that means nothing unless people buy the players and discs...

12. @Space Butler

Stop spreading BS. The Spiderman Trilogy is supposed to be HD demo material especially SM3.

http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/594/spiderman_trilogy.html

I guess you're just jealous because you know the 1st week sales #'s of this set are going to crush HD-DUDs Transformers 1st week sales. I find it pathetic that Blu-ray STILL beat out HD-DUDs biggest realease ever with a BOGO sale and no major title was even released!!! LMAO...

http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/show/Paramount/Disc_Sales/Disc_Sales:_Blu-ray_Squeaks_Weekly_Win_Against_Transformers_HD_DVD/1109

Blu-ray is still yet to be beaten by HD-DUD in sales ALL YEAR and the DUD just missed its ONLY chance.

13. you know, as much as the third one sucked, have all three spidees added to my collection would rule...

14. I watched Spiderman on HDTV recently, I was a little surprised how clear the image was, I could see that Kirsten Dunst had "invisible" bracers on her teeth. I'm serious. Take a good look when you get your Blu-Ray disc of Spiderman 1.

Posted at 6:59PM on Oct 29th 2007 by comtar

15. If your a fan of high definition media, regardless of platform, here's some good news. I'm format neutral with both blu-ray and hd-dvd players. The next player and any future plays I'll get will probably be combo players unless one takes the lead. Like maybe hd-dvd:

http://blackfriday.gottadeal.com/black-friday-867-ToshibaHDA3HighDefinitionHDDVDPlayer.html

The Toshiba HDA3 is going on sale for $169 this black friday at sears online or ins tores.

So it may be a good week for the HD-DVD install base and possibly be a sign of a drop in xbox 360 add-on prices to come?

16. you know..i could care less about spider-man 3. Yeah i'll pick it up in normal DVD because I have the other 2 in normal DVD.

But hey, in terms of Blu-ray Talks, I want my Pirates of the Caribbean 3 and The Simpsons Movie exclusive for Blu-ray and I'll be leaving.
