Deal of the Day: Oblivion for $20 [Update]

Sure, this isn't the Game of the Year Edition. But hey, at $20, you're getting yourself one of the biggest, meatiest games ever. In fact, according to Metacritic, this is the single best game on PS3 right now. You could spend $20 on something far worse than this game.

[Update: Deal is dead. Looks like amazon.com is sold out of copies. There are third-party merchants on the site, but they're offering the game at regular price.]

2. If the rumors of Shivering Isles actually becoming available as DLC then that could indeed be the deal of deals.

What do the rest of you think? Try and sell my copy and get the GotY version or cross my fingers and hope to be able to DL the expansion?

3. Not as good as it looks for me.

Order Total: $68.97

Think i'm going to skip this one.

Posted at 1:40PM on Oct 22nd 2007 by Jim

4. Well... I'd say wait Paul, cause worst case scenario, by the time you give up on waiting for the DLC, the GotY edition will be much cheaper.

This deal really has me torn though. I've been holding off on buying Oblivion for the GotY edition, but with the regular edition so cheap... Argh...

8. @#3
Not sure where your getting that #. I went to the link, put it in my cart and went to check out. $19.99!

This is a great deal. Too bad I bought it long ago for $60

9. That is a good deal indeed anyone tha doesn't have it one way on the other this is a no brainer.

@5 I suppose 15 bucks is ok for that game I unfortionatly got it full price for the 360. I found myself forcing myself to beat it. The game really needed more to it.

10. Still waiting for the Shivering Isles DLC. Also who knows how to trigger the Knights of the Nine within the game? I go talk to the nutty beggar in Anvil and never get any choices.

11. After the business Amazon pulled with the 'special offer prices' on Lair and Folklore then it wouldn't surprise me if they only had a few copies left in stock when they pulled this 'offer' so no wonder it's sold out.

Posted at 5:29PM on Oct 22nd 2007 by MarkJ

12. that sucks... but Thank god .. I was able to get my copy in time! :)

Posted at 5:33PM on Oct 22nd 2007 by Carlos Rirvero

13. @4

Me too. I can't decide if the GOTY content is worth the expansion pack.

14. In case you missed it, the normal price dropped to 29.99 anyways.

29.99 for PS3 that is, 360 version is more. In the words of Nelson: "Ha ha!"

15. @#8

Since i don't live in the US, they slapped me with a shipping fee of about $35 (which is OUTRAGEOUS) and a "import-fee" of about $15. Man it really sucks being in Europe.

Posted at 6:47PM on Oct 22nd 2007 by Jim

16. @14: I think it's twice as old for the X360 version, so that makes it even funnier.

Posted at 6:54PM on Oct 22nd 2007 by Popfrogs

17. wait, how is it the 360 version is more again?
http://www.amazon.com/2K-Games-39013-Scrolls-Oblivion/dp/B000GE7O9K/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/105-7011217-6337202?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1193097210&sr=8-1

the game is old, despite which version game out first. and if it did drop to $20.00 permanently that just says they have a batch of copies that aren't selling and they need to be gotten rid of.

perfect example with that Enchanted Arms game. $20 but it sucked even for 360. what do they do? sell it cheap so it would be more enticing.

i remember the first halo game took 3 years for it to finally drop in price. gears of war is still $60 and i expect that as well with resistance. they keep their price because they know people will buy them regardless.

18. What an amazing deal. Oblivion is almost the perfect game.

BTW: I saw it at walmart for $30 today...

19. Funny, I've enjoyed Enchanted Arms FAR more than I did oblivion. Oblivion just got boring... I guess it's the difference between a JRPG and a single player MMORPG...

I'll admit that EA's combat gets pretty repetitive pretty quick, but I like the story and much prefer turn based combat over that bizarre thing Oblivion has.

Posted at 4:39PM on Oct 23rd 2007 by Nate

20. Hmm... I had wondered why the PS3 version of Oblivion had such a sales pike on Amazon

Guess it was a limited time offering or a pricing glitch

I keep tossing between getting the original at $30 or the GoTY version at $60. I guess I will just wait until all these multiple SKUs turn into a single affordable offering.
