PS3 nabs T3's "Gadget of the Year" award

This year, all console owners are winners! The T3 Gadget Awards have concluded for the year and you'll be happy to know that, while the PS3 was merely a runner up in the "Best Gaming Gadget" category, it did win out in the "Gadget of the Year" category -- making it known that while not the best gaming console out (yet), it's got enough multimedia functionality in addition to a lineup of great games on the horizon to merit a nod as a force to be reckoned with.

All's fair, though. The Xbox 360 won the Gaming Gadget category, due to its strong lineup of games and great online service. The Nintendo Wii won the totally awesome category of "One for the Ladies" -- because the Wii has a unisex appeal and girls love cool games. Whatever, it's a win for them, so they can tout that one above the 360 and PS3's heads, if they want. So, each console is a category champion, but we're pretty sure Gadget of the Year is a little more all-encompassing than others, although we'd like to see the PS3 win the best Gaming Gadget next year! Congrats to all.

1. In due time, the PS3 shall claim the "Best Gaming Gadget"

2. @1

I hope so :P I just bought one and have been waiting to see if there were any "big bang" announcements today before I open it up.

3. It's always good PR to win awards. I'm also curious about the rumoured big bang announcement, but it's probably just 40GB release for North America.

4. I'd be fine with that announcement. I just picked up a 60GB for the full BC and all the goodies.

I just want to know if they're gonna drop the price on it before I open it up.

I don't want the hassle of trying to get a price adjustment once that bad boy has been opened.

But I'm dying to play some Warhawk :P

5. I doubt you can get a price adjustment on something that's a totally different SKU, but you can always try.

Posted at 10:20AM on Oct 12th 2007 by Popfrogs

6. I meant a price drop on the 60GB if they dropped it when they roll out a 40 gigger.

Anyway... after today, if there's no announcement... that badass beauty is getting opened and ready to rock.

Wish me luck :P

7. Anybody else think that is was very cute and bureaucratic that everyone got an award. EVERYBODY'S A WINNER...YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously though, screw the 360.

8. I know, I'd be lost without my SUPER CDs.

Posted at 12:43PM on Oct 12th 2007 by Ghaleon

9. Why don't they have the "Highest Failure Rate in Gaming History Award" or the "Rape Your Loyal Customers Award"?? The 360 would have won both of those hands down... lol

10. "... it did win out in the "Gadget of the Year" category -- making it known that while not the best gaming console out,..."

Fixed.

11. "making it known, that while not the best gaming console out..."

Ouch, Nick. Ouch.

That sounded kinda fair and balanced, to me.

Which one of these, is sarcasm? Are they both? Neither? I don't know!

I mean... statistically speaking? Based on sales and availability of new software? It's not the best console out-- that is held by either Wii or 360, depending on your angle.

But then again, to us... it IS the best console. 'Cause it's made well and works great and has lots of features which make life easier. And we like the games that are out for it, just fine.

So I was saying, with that in mind, how COULD you say it's not the best, like... OH THE HORROR!

But then I was also saying, we can admit, from a certain perspective, say, a statistical perspective that looks at library of games and sales, it is certainly not the best.

I also wanted to make fun of the idea that the top quote from this piece could also be seen as more "fair and balanced" writing (in the real sense, not the Fox News sense, which is just the opposite), on a fanboy site. Sort of like, let's just be real, holm, "Real Rep'sent Real, yo." (flash of a scene from Def Jam:ICON)

I have seen comments of people griping about bias.

Newsflash. The word "fanboy" is in the title. So bias is a fact. We're fanboys. We come here to CHEER.
