A look at Jon Mak's life

Jon Mak is the man that single-handedly made the new PSN game, Everyday Shooter. The game took top honors at GDC's Independent Games Festival, and Sony immediately signed a deal with the one-man Queasy Games. A recent update shows some of the crazy thoughts from the mind of this burgeoning games developer. See his not-1080p TV (it's 12", oh no!), and his aversion to the numbers 4 and 5. In fact, he dislikes them so much, they''re not in a single line of code for the game! Certainly sounds impressive, no?

Stay tuned for our full review of Everyday Shooter.

5. @3

So is developing, coding, and debugging your own full length game.
The man's insane. But then again, so was VanGogh.

Same here. The game was not even close to the PSP version. I got so pissed off that decided to stop buying any games from PSN.

8. ES is strangely addictive, and aesthetically pleasing. I'm glad i picked it up. Though I'm very skeptical of PSN titles, and will continue to be in the future. Mainly because of the crap that Sony keeps releasing.

9. Note that there are some 4 and 5's in the codes, but only in the combination of 54 and the rare 0.5

10. @7, 4: it was *3* *fscking* *euros*. Sure, the game wasn’t very long, but it was great value for such a small amount. I played it for a couple of hours because it was so much fun, and I still have to finish it.

I don’t get why some people are so negative about it. Be glad they try to not rehash the exact same game over and over again. If it was the same game that I’ve played on my PSP, then I for sure would have been disappointed. Been there done that, I doubt tilt controls would have made it novel enough for me to enjoy it for very long.

By the way, some guy in the comments over at the Playstation blog post on ES said Sony, give this man an HDTV, and a while later Jon Mak replied that that guy made his day… I wonder if Sony actually gave him an HDTV ;p.

11.'d think that Sony would send a maid over there and ship him the largest Bravia they make. Developers like this *deserve* to be courted.

12. @10: I think Jonathan was actually replying to this post:

" Rzarekta | October 11th, 2007 at 4:51 pm

You guys don’t get it huh? He has a ton of seaWEED and HASH browns. See the words in caps??? It’s a joke, as in, he needed lots of weed and hash to make this game. The game’s awesome by the way to anyone on the fense. Must buy game."

13. I wish there was some kind of Legal/Official/non Linux home brew SDK for the PS3...
