TGS07: Metal Gear Solid 4 to include Online Starter Pack

Metal Gear Solid 4 will include a small taste of the Metal Gear Online experience through an included "Starter Pack" mode, Hideo Kojima revealed at the Konami press conference today in Tokyo. A new trailer highlighted the game's sharp graphics, which nearly match the visual fidelity of its single-player counterpart. In addition, fun gameplay bits, such as the ability to roll down enemies in a barrel were shown. The trailer ended with a soldier launching himself helplessly into the air by using a massive cannon device (a Halo nod, perhaps?).

Both Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Online will be playable at TGS. Stay tuned for more.

2. Hah!!
They are stupid not to put this game on Xbox 360, last time i checked there is like a 5 times larger install base on 360 than there is on Ps3 and ALL the 360 owners i no (like 50) want to get this game.
And no, they will not get a PS3 for this game. It is gonna take a lot of work to get Sony up off the ground in this generation. In other words, its Wii60!!!

3. @2 oh my god

seriously

oh my fucking god

why arent you playing games instead of trolling (and trolling rather badly) on a ps3 news blog?

Posted at 5:24AM on Sep 19th 2007 by chaod

4. @ 2, hmm u need to get your facts straight

Last time I checked the console sale rates was about 2:1, if you take out the 1/3 - 1/2 360 suffering the RROD and those in transit, there would be an operable comparison of 1:1

Taking that into account and the fact that they are building a quality game for a quality console, please go back to your MicroShaft little world and stop trolling

5. At #2

- Sir, you sure are retarded, you should better go and fry some meat on your Box than say some S%^@ on a Ps3 News Blog. Noone cares what you think little Troll, noone... Now go and cry like some little Emo Troll you are.

6. Good Morning Michael.

Thank you for your insightful and well reasoned arguments. Your deep understanding of the video game market makes me question my commitment to the Sony brand.

Alas moving to 'Wii60', as you put it, would cause me to feel inadequate when surrounded by the likes of yourself and thus I must remain with my poor PlayStation brand.

Its not you ... its me. Really.

7. Sorry, I meant Mitchell. As you can tell I was so blown away by your aura that I couldn't even get that right...

Or maybe I didn't give a crap. Either way.

Posted at 5:52AM on Sep 19th 2007 by Kspraydad

8. @3 - He isnt playing games because his 360 got the RRoD, just like his other 50 friends...wait 50???, do trolls even have friends?

Posted at 5:54AM on Sep 19th 2007 by sam-evans

9. funny how someone who claims that they'll never buy a ps3 is on a ps3 site commenting on ps3 games...

I mean, I will never buy a xbox, and I've never ever been on a xbox site... whats the point, really, I don't even read the halo guff, whats the point, really.

Say, that isn't you is it bill?

Posted at 6:11AM on Sep 19th 2007 by Higgyfella

10. "(a Halo nod, perhaps?)."

Lol. Yes because halo invented player launching devices in multiplayer games.

I hear halo also invented the shotgun and sliced bread.

/sigh.

---------

Oh and can you silly fanboys (PS3 and 360 alike) just shut up and discuss the games, not the consoles?

Who gives a fuck which console its on. Why dont you go and get a job - If you spent 1/4 the time working as you did argueing over the console war, you could afford all 3 consoles with ease.

Idiots.

11. I feel that it is a ripoff. All games should include a multiplayer component. What did they run out of space on the all mighty Bu-Ray disc. You fanboys would be pissin yourselves if this was any other game. No one should have to pay for something that should be included. I just wonder if they got the balls to charge full price for the game. Culd you imagine the backlash if Microsoft/Bungie tried to sell the multiplayer portion of Halo 3 separately. They would make 400 million on launch day. MGS has been in production long enough for them to have made it a part of the game.

Posted at 7:26AM on Sep 19th 2007 by wurider

12. @11 .. Halo = MP.. nobody cares about the story... its the exact opposite for MGS. And if it upsets you, then dont buy it, easy as pie.

13. Thats GREAT!!! Just what I been planing on, Buying 1 game for Single player, Then another for online... So whats that gonna run $120... Great Job!!

Posted at 7:58AM on Sep 19th 2007 by TRUTH

14. I chose my PS3 and PSP mostly due to the MGS and FF franchise.

Posted at 8:23AM on Sep 19th 2007 by ruibing

15. @ truth...

i'm sure the single player campaign will be WELL worth the measly 60 bucks.

it always is.

this MGO seems to be a full-blown Multiplayer experience. and I'm sure it also, will be well worth the money.

So them giving you a taste on the MGS4 disc should be considered a gift. A free one.

Posted at 9:51AM on Sep 19th 2007 by Justin

16. I am thinking, if the online MGS4 is a seperate game, that might show up on the 360. As kojima said that MGS4 is only on ps3 and he is done with the MGS games. SO considering that online MGS4 seems to full in the grey area and might be release on 360 like 6 months later from the PS3 version?

Posted at 10:00AM on Sep 19th 2007 by AshStampede

17. I can't wait for this to finally release!! It's gonna pwn!!

Posted at 10:01AM on Sep 19th 2007 by Byron517

18. People seem to be getting their facts mixed up a little here, these are 2 large separate games and we're being given a taste of MGS online when we pick up MGS4.

Posted at 10:26AM on Sep 19th 2007 by DownwardMonkey

19. lol looks great it really does. Cant wait for this game to hit stores i hope they have liek a special edition type one or w/e
