Developers walk through Unreal Tournament III

For the Unreal devotees, it shouldn't come as surprising that Unreal Tournament III is shaping up quite nicely. Already far along in development, this PC/PS3 first person shooter is pushing the boundaries of the already-impressive Unreal Engine even further. Not only are the weapons demonstrated in this video, but the vehicles are, as well. Some of them are quite creative, we have to admit.

While we're impressed, we're worried that the current popularity of Warhawk may deter fans from switching to yet another multiplayer shooter. While UTIII and Warhawk have very different approaches to the genre, we hope that gamers don't get too burned out from their endless Warhawk sessions.

[Thanks, Daichi!]

1. My god, I can't wait for this game.

2. I'm glad this game is coming to the PS3, it is definitely the game we need to show the nay sayers that the PS3 is definitely a beast.....

3. I'll probably skip this one as i suspect the hard core folks will be flocking to this one... Warhawk seems more accessible to a wider audience.

4. I like Unreal better than Warhawk. And Halo. Combined. The only issue I have with the series is that the weapons look like they came in a Happy Meal.

5. This is why I bought a PS3!

6. I just got Warhawk and it's the shit. I'll still get UT3 the day it comes out. While both are massive online multiplayers, I'm guessing that both will offer a completely different experience. Both games are a must for anybody who likes online multiplayer action.

7. That is beyond amazing.

Thats the most "Next-Gen" i've ever seen.

The way that tentacle thing moves around the environment, the quality of the graphics, the smoothness of the FPS and the fact that 32 people will be playing in those maps.

Seriously.

THAT and THAT alone is Next Gen to me.

I'm so glad i have a PS3 to play this game on and i'm SO glad that i can play it with a keyboard and mouse. My PC friends that i'll be playing against that will only have 1/4 the graphics of that due to their average pc's will really be jealous :D

This is the reason i bought a PS3 basically.

12. Warhawk is out now. UT3 is scheduled for November release and so too if COD4. It's going to be an exciting time for on-line PS3 shooters!

Posted at 3:14AM on Aug 30th 2007 by Ian

13. Just remembered that HAZE is scheduled for a November release as well - Time to start working some overtime for the extra money required!

Posted at 5:56AM on Aug 30th 2007 by Ian

14. If I didn't have a good enough PC I would definately get it for the PS3. Keyboard + mouse support and extensive mod support. You can just download a map or mod to a memorystick and transfer it to your harddrive or even transfer it over the network through the PS3's wifi.

UT3 on the PS3 will definately be one multiplatform game that will kick the xbox 360 versions arse.

17. There's enough room in my heart (and wallet) for both this and Warhawk. That video was awesome and the use of tentacles is truly next-gen! I I can't wait for this game, as my PC has been running UT2K4 for a while now and I'm starting to get too good.

But seriously this is yet another day-one-nust-buy title for our beloved console.

20. wait, wait, wait.

Is it just me? Or are their STRONG Jak and Daxter elements in there?

I thought of it when he was riding the [scooter?] through the buildings, I remember doing that in JakII... then the dude jumps off and gets on a hoverboard... remember that, in Jak II... third-person view, Jak II. Also the way the pod/scooter will jump, to access different levels, that was in Jak II.

Wait... roll like a ball? Isn't that Nintendo's property? wocka wocka wocka

I'm not saying they stole and I'm not dissing them, I'm saying maybe they liked Jak and wanted to do the same stuff. I just think that would be cool, if that were true.
