Deal of Yesterday: Lair and Folklore back at full price at Amazon

Amazon's amazing deal on Lair and Folklore yesterday seems to have unceremoniously come to an end. The price for each game has risen to £34.99, more than double the "sale" price. Was it a sale though? We're not sure. It didn't take long for both games to hit the number 1 and number 2 spot on the bestsellers list for Video Games. We're sure Amazon themselves would have noticed the amount of attention the games were getting if it was a mistake.

We don't know whether yesterday's prices will be honoured for those that pre-ordered the games, but are looking into it. If you've been in contact with Amazon about it, please let us know.

2. Discussion #6 of the day:

Bargain Pricing: 3
Warhawk: 0

I give up.

I'm taking off of work tomorrow to go on a gaming binge (I have a lot of vacation days accumulated) and play a ton of Warhawk and try to finish Bioshock.

4. Yup, I've contacted them too and they've confirmed that all pre-order prices will be honoured.

To say I'm pleased with this result would be an understatement.

10. they are not aloud to charge the higher price for people who have pre-ordered it

otherwise it goes against there terms and your terms.
they are only aloud to raise the price of everyone who pre-ordered it if they agree to it.

so in conclusion the people who have pre-ordered it at that price get it at that price.

ALSO i contacted Amazon about the price yesturday and i got a reply saying it wasnt a mix up and they meant to do that. Ill try and dig out the copy of the email as its kinda lost with the rest of my 1000 emails i got since 2002.

11. @#3

No one entered the wrong price. Amazon have stated that the £15 price tag was a promo pre-order deal that lasts a week only and therefore anyone that preordered during this time will have paid next to nothing for those two titles.

14. Amazon just bumped both games up to 34.99 and thats now the price for anyone who preorded at 14.99. I got two emails just 5 mins ago telling me about each item and that I was expected to pay the new price.

In fact they even auto-cancelled my order. Gee, thanks. [email protected]

15. Just got the same email, stating that even though they are consistently 800 billion in profit every quarter, they won't be honouring the order, because they are Amazon and they can make up their own laws and not abide by basic trading standards. Bastards!
Come on Fanboy staff! Get off Warhawk and fight our corner!
Might have to wait until the morning tho, as I believe the staff at Amazon regularly cry themselves with the shame!

18. Same here. Got the exact same email minutes ago.

So did some people really get the 14.95 deal as mentioned by some of the earlier comments?

Posted at 6:17PM on Aug 29th 2007 by Sighmon

19. Game publishers perhaps have lessons to learn following this! When two, probably fairly mediocre games, suddenly take the number 1 and number 2 spots at Amazon when they are sold at £14.99, it must say something about the prices that people are willing to pay.

At £14.99 I ordered both games, because I'm sure I'd get value for money from them even though they are likely to be pretty average. I won't be re-ordering either of them at £39.99 each though.
