Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix busts jewels on August 30th

Capcom has posted on their official message boards that greatest-puzzle-game-ever, Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix has been finished and will hit the PlayStation Store in just over a week on August 30th. The game will run you 10 dollars; a great deal considering it was a full priced game when it was released on the PlayStation 1, the Saturn, and the GBA.

SPFIITHDR sports a shiny 1080p make-over, full online play with leaderboards, and tweaked gameplay balance -- all things fans of the game should greatly appreciate. Anybody else going to get their jeweled Hadouken on?

Ok, that's just hi-larious! Good spin for an oldie but a goodie, Colin! =D

3. Sweet. It really is one of the better puzzle games out there. I'm tormented on which system I should buy it for.

4. $10 for this? LOL.

Make it $5 and we'll talk. It's the equivalent of a mini-game these days.

5. All you people complaining about this game have probably never played it. This game is fantastically awesome. It was good at the arcade. It was good on original Playstation. It'll be good on PS3. I'm expecting this to be my favorite PSN release to date.

There's a reason this game STILL fetches $30+ for the original Playstation version on Ebay. In that context, all of a sudden the $10 is a VERY good deal. Plus this one is updated with widescreen and online play.

It's not just another puzzle game like Tetris or Dr Mario. As the name implies, it's only playable in versus mode against another person or against the computer. It's an interesting take on the puzzle genre.

If you really don't like puzzle games then that's one thing. But if even marginally like puzzle games, then this simply can't be passed up.

6. I've played the digital crack that is this game on PS1, GBA and CPS2 emulator for PSP (which is probably the best version I've played). I'd rather pay $5, but I'm tempted to get it just to have it with a good resolution on my HDTV and maybe to try out the online play, which I will inevitably suck at.

7. The CPS2 (arcade) version and the PS1 version seem like the same game, but tend to play slightly differently. Where the arcade version rewards meticulous block placement, the PS1 version seems to more-highly value speed. Personally, I like the CPS2 ver the most.

I have a feeling that the new one will probably play like the PS1 version (along with all the new changes, of course).
