Call of Duty 4 on the PS3 runs at 60FPS with full AA

On the official Call of Duty 4 message boards, one of the developers behind the sexy looking FPS has recently shot-down the rumor that COD4 on the PS3 would run at a sad Madden-like 30FPS with little to no anti-aliasing, versus the 360 version which has already been confirmed to run at 60FPS with AA.

According to the dev, "Same level of AA between 360/PS3, both @ 60fps. Hate on the PS3 all you want guys, but we've done did it up right for the Sony lovers. Nothing has been 360 footage yet touted as PS3, you crack-heads! I'm not sure whats up with what you guys might have seen at E3, but we do have AA on the PS3."

It's awesome to see Infinity Ward pulling out all the stops and not picking the lazy way out like EA did with their sports games. Plus, they mention that the PS3 will be getting some special COD4 flavored love and that we'll hear about it soon. Hopefully it's something more than lame Sixaxis support, but at this point PS3 fans would be happy just to get a freaking demo or something ...

1. No way, I would rather buy a louzy EA games... On top of that, they will remove their online server next year so you have to buy the game every year... Much better choice.

Seriously, this game look awesome.

2. EA has a monopoly on NFL games... whether its better on PS3 or 360... EA wins.

5. HOLY PS3 COW!

N4G.com source story has over 100 comments. Both EA and xbots are being slain! Yikes! I'm thinking of joining the party!

Poor EA (Madden 08 debacle). They are going to be sore in the morning! I'm shedding a tear for them now...NOT! :P

8. I really dont want to sound stupid or anything. But when the article said "Nothing has been 360 footage yet touted as PS3" ummm what do they mean by that? someone please.

Posted at 10:03PM on Aug 14th 2007 by knives

9. knives,

The dev is refuting those that say that all PS3 demos have really been 360 in disguise.

Posted at 10:07PM on Aug 14th 2007 by GL

10. It means that they haven't used screen shots or movies from the 360 version and said it was for the PS3 version. It is a deceptive practice among some developers.

Posted at 10:10PM on Aug 14th 2007 by Jason B.

11. Where's the 9th post?

Posted at 10:11PM on Aug 14th 2007 by GL

12. @8 - He means that the footage shown of the PS3 version of the game is the actual footage from the PS3 version. xbots have been spreading rumors that the PS3 game footage was 360 footage and not actual PS3 footage.

In other words when the devs say this is PS3 footage, it really is.

13. Thanks for getting mad Colin. It shows that you have some passion and you are not just a hired hand. I hope COD4 is everything its hyped to be on the PS3. The tide need to start getting turned.

Posted at 10:30PM on Aug 14th 2007 by Matt B

14. That explains why alot of the footage seen has [] and X on them. I am pretty sure the fetures will mainly be more online features. A lot of games do that. Then again it is an apology for delaying it so much because there are only 5 million ps3s out there. Only 5 million wow that is so small. I heard them talking about how much about the 60 fps no matter what so i would not be suprised if everything has 60fps. The ps3 can do all the texturing and stuff. It can do it better but harder to do so all these lazy companys just tune it down.

Posted at 10:31PM on Aug 14th 2007 by joey2joey

15. I am also sick of all these game companys ignore the ps3. A highly superior console and just think xbox 360 will go on and ps3 will end. Havent they already made that mistake twice?

Posted at 10:34PM on Aug 14th 2007 by joey2joey

16. I just messed my pants. I'm taking the $60 I just saved by not buying the crap-tastic port of Madden '08 and throwing it down on a pre-order for COD4!

Posted at 10:34PM on Aug 14th 2007 by stuckouteast

17. i don't see why people who own xboxes find the need to make fun and talk down on ps3'ers just to make themselves feel better....

Maybe they're too poor or don't know how to budget themselves to get one

if the 360 is so superior why bother with people who own an "inferior" console

You don't see people with ferrari's making fun of people driving toyotas or whatever...

oh wait maybe you do, but we have a name for those people, douchebags

19. @:

IW/PS3 FTW! LOL @ all the 360 fanboyz!

WTF are you two going on about? Here's a refresh...

This is saying that the PS3 is running the same as the XBOX 360... finally.

I paid less for my system that does the same thing yours does...

Far superior online gaming FTW!
