Sony brings indie game, Everyday Shooter, to PSN

Everyday Shooter made a big impression at GDC earlier this year. Winner of the Game Design Innovation award from the Game Developer's Choice Awards, Everyday Shooter took a unique approach to the dual-sticked shooter genre. N'Gai from Newsweek reports that the indie title will appear on the PlayStation Network in 1080p, at 60fps. "It didn't take us long to realize that we were playing something special. After five minutes, we were hooked; after an hour, we had to tear ourselves away to meet up with some fellow journalists for drinks."

The game focuses on creating chain explosions. Each enemy explodes in a unique note or riff, based on a musical theme. The experience is seemingly nothing less than a cacophony of chaos. The synesthetic approach will certainly appeal to fans of Mizuguchi titles, such as Rez and Lumines. Although the game takes a more musical approach, we're wondering if games like Super Stardust HD haven't already satiated the average gamer's appetite for an everyday shooter.

3. No point in only having one good game from a genre, especially a genre with small games you can pick up and play very quickly. I probably wouldn't want a flood, but any game like Rez will be very welcome to a select group of fans. Granted, I wasn't a big fan of Rez, but that's because it was on rails. This, I look forward to.

I don't suppose someone could con Sony into getting some sort of vertical scrolling shooter? I know dual-stick shooters are all the rage (especially Super Stardust), but I'm an old-school nut.

5. Um, I have this game...it's called Every Extended Extra for the PSP. Just for that they should put Rez on PSN.

But then again it is better than a Wii board^_^

6. This just in. M$ is now getting sued and facing thier 1st lawsuit regarding the 360's defectiveness. Many more are sure to follow in line, this will hurt M$ big time. I can't say I feel bad, thats what you get for jumpng the gun and releasing a defective system before its ready, GREEDY!! Don't believe me, here's the source: http://www.gamespot.com/news/6174043.html?om_act=convert&om_clk=morenews&tag=morenews;title;4

7. I'll probably get this as I like everyday shooters, the sound will most likely be entertaining, and because, best of all, PSN games are so cheap.

To follow-up on Tanya's comment, it would be great if they got a game like Rez for the PSN, although it wouldn't be the same without rumble, or the Trance Vibrator.

9. I usually suck at these types of games, but it sounds really cool - screenshot and write-up makes it seem kinda like Darwinia crossed with Rez. I liked both of 'em, so - I might just get this one!
