Killzone 2 screenshot to get us hyped for tonight's demo event

As if you didn't know already, tonight is the Killzone 2 event at E3. As if it wasn't hyped enough, Sony has released an in-game screenshot from the demo that our journalist pals (including our own Andrew Yoon) will be playing tonight.

The USAToday website has an article about four 'show stealing games,' with a little more info about Killzone 2 and the full res image can be found on Threespeech. Screenshots (well, singular) are all well and good, but we really want to see the game in motion. Hopefully there'll be footage galore after the press event this evening.

[Thanks Justin]

The "brick wall" picture is fake, but the actual screen is a poster. Look closely at the picture. See the red dot? That's a bullet decal on the wall. So it is a wallpaper, in game.

24. I think the reason the shadow is so pixelated is because it's a pre-alpha build, things like shadows aren't really perfected till the end. Hopefully the rest of the game looks better in motion.

remember this?

doesnt look anywhere near as good as the trailer

SONY, you gotta do something to save your sinking ship, the price cut is not enough

26. Looks great cant wait for it love playing Libiration!!

whats wrong Xbots nothing going on for the 360 halo3 looks the same as halo2(overrated story) Hahahaha go and play your shitty overlord!!

27. Kool.. this game is looking great!! I think the texture needs a bit of work.. but i guess they can still fix that. I never knew halo had textures... hahahhaha all i see are shiny armor plates with dull enviornments.

1st they need to get close to the trailer to be able to exceed anything, and from that screenshot they arent doing it, just by overhyping their own game to this level and lying about the trailer it makes it seem as if its destined for failure

plus this game looks like a pile of steaming s#!& compared to crysis (which unfortunately wont come to any console), much more interested in Haze too

i hope final fantasy doesnt disappoint

29. I'm sorry, this looks horrible. I had high hopes, but these have thrown them down. It is still a bit early, but I don't think pre-pre alpha considering the game has been in-development for more than 2 years now... I expected more... They will improve it... but I'm sorry, if they're trying to show off what the system can do... this is definitely not it.

30. Haze has really changed what people are expecting at least graphically for the PS3. (Crysis not withstanding)Hard to get excited anymore by this game. Hasn't ever really lived up to the hype. Hope they prove us (those that can admit it)wrong tonight.

31. HAHAHAHH Halo 3 looks like 10000000000000

32. For some weird reason my comment didnt show up completely so anyways that comment is just like any xbox 360 fanboy comment who likes to judge the games graphics by just one damn screenshot ¬¬

33. apparentley it's a screen of a person in game looking at a POSTER TEXTURE ON A WALL NOT REAL IN GAME
then he spins around and sees some amazing battle scene
im not saying that's true but it's a rumour going round

Posted at 3:26PM on Jul 10th 2007 by balaam

34. I'd heard that a couple times today balaam, and I think it would be great if that's how they do it. This "in game" shot turns out to be truly in game; just not the way we were expecting. That would certainly explain why when zoomed out this image looks fantastic, but when you view it at 720p it looks pretty bad; it would look good on the wall in game.
It's going to be interesting, that's for sure. Sony's going to dump a few thousand gallons of gasoline on the internet flamewars no matter what they show.
