Killzone 2 screenshot to get us hyped for tonight's demo event

As if you didn't know already, tonight is the Killzone 2 event at E3. As if it wasn't hyped enough, Sony has released an in-game screenshot from the demo that our journalist pals (including our own Andrew Yoon) will be playing tonight.

The USAToday website has an article about four 'show stealing games,' with a little more info about Killzone 2 and the full res image can be found on Threespeech. Screenshots (well, singular) are all well and good, but we really want to see the game in motion. Hopefully there'll be footage galore after the press event this evening.

[Thanks Justin]

1. I like it. Looks like they may come a little closer to those target renders than i first thought.

2. looks crappy. the textures suck

3. I take that back, It looks a whole lot better in the small screen of the post. The full res version at threespeech looks kind of... different.

4. @leatherlover

you look crappy, you're textures suck!

------------------------

wow, that screenshot does look nice, crappy textures, because apparently the scene takes place in a crappy old house, or something. But the character and lighting are nice. I can't wait to see the rest of the game. Looks better than Halo 3..

5. All i can say is wow. They've nailed the grainy look that they had in teh trailer. The shadows are a bit low res, but that's really nothin suprising since tehre's alot of it going on in the scene. Looks like its going to be a good day to be a PS3FANBOY!

6. Better then Halo 3? HAHAHA. I love coming to this site in the morning. The fanboys always give me a good laugh. Seriously Thomas, did you see the screenshot they posted last week for Halo 3? Looks 10 times better then this one. Lair looked more impressive in one screenshot then this one.

7. "alot of it going on in the scene"?

It's a picture of an NPC blocked into a corner. Chunky shadows and low res textures. Underwhelming.

10. I smell fear coming from those microsoft fanboys.

By the way it looks great and it is just a 'pre-pre-alpha' build.

11. What a big piece of crap. This does not even touch halo 3, Look at the shit for textures. hahaha better than halo 3

Posted at 9:17AM on Jul 10th 2007 by leatherlover

12. Kinda have to admit it, hate to say it but doesn't look all that great. Lets see how E3 shows it. Maybe there will be better resolution shots or images in HD.

Posted at 9:19AM on Jul 10th 2007 by Dadidito

13. One dark screen with not much content does not maketh a great game. I love my PS3 but I'm starting to spew at the, "OMG it looks amazing !!!" posts from moronic (teenage?) idiots. Hopefully, the demo etc will give us an indication of how the game will look but for now my advice is this ..... Children, go outside and play !

14. I'm not prone to post on this board simply because of the naysayers, it always turns into a pissing match. But as a whole, when looking at the KZ2 pic and Halo3 pics, KZ2 does look slightly better. Keep in mind (leatherlover) among others, that the Halo3 image doesn't really show anything new or different. It's the same models as before (characters) with a bit more detailing and reflectiveness on the armor. Over all though, it looks and feels like Halo (as it should) but doesn't take anything and really push the envelope. It still has that cartoony feel to it.

With KZ2, it's easy to say it looks better simply because it's one unit in a big black space, but at the same time, when reading about info (posted by Anpanman), you learn this image is from a pre-pre-alpha build. In other words, this image is most likely from one of the first stages of development.

I guess as a whole, I personally in my own opinion, not stating anything as fact, think this is better solely because it's not cartoony, it's early build, and the detail looks pretty amazing. it's fresh and different, and isn't Halo with shiny armor from a BETA build.

15. The gun in the guys chest looks shoddy.

Pre-Alpha, Beta or whatever, this game is not going to look anything like the target trailer.

Remember Gears Of War at E3 last year? That looked better than this.

16. Yeah this will be good , i look forward to this. :)

17. lol!! This looks like sh*t! people who say it looks jaw dropping and stuff must go check their eyes.

Nvm, Im happy with Haze, Haze is going to blow the crap out of this game.

18. it looks good and bad, it seems that this pic was use to generate buzz if it will live to the cg trailer, so we will have to wait until tonight :) cant wait.

19. A single screenshot in a dark room from a pre-pre-alpha is nothing to base my opinion on. I'll reserve judgment for video clips as it nears release.
