Deal of the Day: SIXAXIS for $40

Controllers don't come cheap these days. Sony's tilting PS3 controller usually retails for $50, but amazon.com is having a special sale, knocking the price down to $40 (with free shipping to boot!). If you're not waiting for a controller that can rumble (and who knows when that'll arrive), this might be what you need to finally start playing some multiplayer PS3 games.

1. You know, if you factor in the material costs, packaging and R&D (what little there would have been this time around), it's pretty absurd to charge anything over $25 US for a controller.

2. You're right Stef, but if you wait until the Rumble version is close to release, I bet you'll see the regular Sixaxis being sold for that much. I'd be looking forward to getting more controllers cheap, if someone would actually make some fun 4 player games.

3. Could be a sign that Amazon knows something we don't. That Sony is about to release a rumble version? Making the current controller's obsolete? One can dream!?

4. Hm. I've never really pondered whether or not Sony would still sell the rumble-free sixaxis. I'm sure if they do, the rumble-enabled version will be $50 and regular one will maybe go down to $35. Let's just hope they actually have some sort of trade-in program - I'm not interested in shelling out $100 for controllers again (Seeing as the trade-in value will probably be pretty low.)

5. I don't care so much about rumble, I just want a controller with a longer USB cable... That's my message to Sony... When you make your Rumbly sixaxis make sure that the USB is longer than 4 ft!

8. I don't plan on buying any extra controllers till they've added rumble.

9. What ever happened to the light on the PS button anyways. I was so sad to see that there was none when i first got my ps3. The covers not even red, its clear.

maybe they will add this on the rumblaxis, but i doubt it.

12. @RatBoy: it’s a standard USB cable, you can just go to any PC or hardware shop, bring your cable with you and ask if they have a longer one.
