New name for Lair in Japan, plus screenshots!

We're all anticipating the release of Lair by the end of July, but we've got two different subjects on the Factor 5 game to cover for you today. First up, we've got a name change. No, not for North America or Europe, but for Japan, the title Lair just didn't seem to do it over there. The latest Famitsu Weekly magazine has the game listed as Rise From Lair. Good stuff, we guess.

Also, we've got a handful of screenshots for you to check out. The screenshots are here. While you'd expect a plethora of screenshots with giant dragons floating around the sky and oceans and stuff, these are different. Kind of. Some pictures of actual characters, as well as the obligatory dragon-riding. We enjoy them. Don't you?

1. Wow!!! Anyone notice in that second pic down on the left hand side, the middle top of the pic says 2300+ soldiers to go!!!
This is going to be amazing.

2. My burning question is...

How does a crappy little site that can't even manage to create correctly scaled thumbnails get exclusive images of a high profile game like Lair?

Bring Half-Life1 to ps3

4. "Bring Half-Life1 to ps3"
They already brought it to the ps2...

I'm still excited about this game, hopefully with Ninja Gaiden it will be enough to hold us until fall. So many of those screens just look like they'll be much better in motion and a few feet wide. I also have to say, after playing Warhawk for a bit, I'm looking forward to the motion controls, and actually have faith in them working really well with a little practice.

5. I'm am really looking forward to this... I hope that this can finally be a good dragon game, none of the others I ever played really held up. We'll see.(soon)

6. You know what drives me fucking insane. People complain about too many FPS, yet when Lair comes around people think it will just for a niche market.

IGN needs to do a better with screens.

Just to rub this in the face of some of you wiiers Factor 5 use to devolop for Nintendo. There were Nintendo's last third party devoloper. Ha. Ha.

Wow. I am an asshole.

7. ZOOOMMMGG, DRAGONS! lol

@massive_98

Well I can tell you this much, it does seem like a niche market. This game (just with the mention of dragons) makes me turn the other way. Majority of people do the same. I mean It's probally going to be an awesome game, but not something I would have a want to play. Also, If the ps3 had more big hit games coming out in the fall or summer (like FF or MGS4) you would have probally not seen anything about the game. It's a game that everyone is looking at becuase it's one of the few ps3 games coming out soon. I'm not saying it's going suck, just that it seems to be getting the hype-wagon going. Personally, I'm sick of that. Like the Over-hyped coffee Microsoft is brewing with halo 3. I just want it to stop, and just do it around 2 weeks from being released. 3 months of this and I might go insane, or just to escape it all together and just come to the ps3fanboy site to read things. (If you guys won't mind, I'll be nice. I promise.) Anyway, didn't mean to rant there.

What exactly does it mean when a game is for a "niche market"? Does it mean that it's only for the people who only buy games with dragons? The market isn't exactly flooded with this type of game. It is an alternative to all the other generic games out there, particularly the shooter games. There are just too many of them out there and that are coming soon and it is refreshing to be able to play something different.

9. @ Vincent060

True. I understand. For me I would pick something more than a dragon game. I mean I trust the game will be great. The graphics look awesome. I'm just saying even with the flood of fps coming. Some people still don't think much of dragon games. Like vizunary said that most dragon games never really capture it well for some people and the past games make people a little wary. I'm not attacking the game at all, just wanting to point out that it might just be that even though this is a change of pace, some people don't like the direction of the pace. I mean sadly, there aren't alot of new non-fps coming out. That's a shame really.

2,300 particles from a geometry emmiter is not impressive at all.

If they were all individual AI rather than eye candy, maybe it'd be impressive.

11. It looks very nice indeed, however i get the feeling that Lair is pushed into a weird spot where it has to actually save the PS3.
This will probably be a good game, but it will get bad reviews because "the media" is having too much expectations.

12. I meant "@8 Killer". Although since massive_98 mentioned niche markets too I guess the question could also be directed at her too.
