Joust to headline tomorrow's Store update

In addition to the firmware upgrade and Warhawk beta, the PS Store will feature a brand-new old game tomorrow: Joust. Players will battle enemy knights, lava trolls and pterodactyls in this revived Midway classic. In addition to enhanced resolution, the game will also feature online leaderboards.

The download will be available on the Store tomorrow for only $4.99.

1. Wait, do we KNOW that North America is getting a firmware update too? So far I thought we'd only heard that Europe was getting 1.80. Regardless, seeing as North American PS3s don't use software emulation for ps1/2 titles, would the upscaling deal even apply to us?

2. I was wondering about that too with the EE in North American PS3's. Joust! I love it! Actually, I loved it back in the early 80's on my Atari 2600.

3. Yeah, I don't see why the US PS3s won't get the firmware update. It's really easy to turn off a chip and tell the PS3 to emulate the EE instead.

4. All PS3s (and PSPs) in every territory receive firmware updates simultaneously. Expect it up around midnight tonight like the last few before that.

5. yes everyone is getting the firmware update, i'm just concerned on what they are offering in the PS store tomorrow, give us something more than joust, give us gamers day videos and at least a demo...

6. I really doubt tomorrow is the day that Sony shuts off everyone's EE chips. They would make a VERY big deal about it.

I'm also pretty sure that firmware updates are not universal among regions. Europe's PS3s rely on software emulation and thus have different software from what North American PS3s do.

7. Uh yes US PS3 are getting the update tomorrow too lol Why would they release it for just one region?

I cant wait go Sony!!!!
