Final Fantasy XIII games "not limited to PS3 and mobile"

The Australian PSM had an interview with Square-Enix's Motomu Toriyama. It was all right. He mostly talked about the main Final Fantasy XIII game. But he was asked a question that wasn't expected and he gave an answer that was even less expected.

What was asked? Dunno. What was said? "In fact, the Fabula Nova Crystallis Final Fantasy XIII project isn't just limited to three titles -- there are many different aspects. In terms of the formats we're reaching, as well, it's not simply exclusive to the PS3 and mobile phones. There is more."

Now, before all the competing consoles do a jig and cry in happiness for a game they wouldn't even play, this doesn't say anything about the exclusivity of XIII and Versus XIII. What we're gleaning from this is another game for another platform -- maybe Crystal Chronicles on the Wii actually takes place in the same universe? Or an Advent Children-style short movie where the two main characters of the games meet and duke it out? It's pretty interesting to think about -- oh, a graphic novel! Maybe.

3. I have a feeling if FFXII: Revenant Wings for the DS sells more than FFXII did for PS2, it could mean big changes in Final Fantasy's future.

4. @3
And i think FF7 Crisis core will crush the FF12's sales. Just seeing those fmvs makes me drool... cant believe that game look better than many ps2 games.

5. Most likely the PSP and NDS are my guess. I don't imagine SE exploring new territory on the 360.

6. You know they already made a FF game for 360, right Taylor? Granted it didn't sell amazingly well since it was an online-only one, but they have done it.

9. What about PC? They might release it for that, considering that most PCs are moving towards dual cores. It might make porting easier.

FFXI was a MMO, and I can only imagine that Sony would throw as much money as needed at Square to make sure that the main games never left their systems. MS would prolly have to pull a Rare and buy out Square to get Sony to losen their deathgrip.

With that said, I doubt that any of this would keep Square from pushing out other games, or spin-off's, on the 360 or Wii. Although I rather didn't like Crystal Chronicals at all.

11. @Scott

As others have said before, FFXI was an online RPG. It's very different in form from other FF titles. FFXI was released on PC / PS2 / 360. It was already cross platform long before it was featured on the 360. As it was already on Windows, it was in Microsoft's territory so to speak.

exclusives isn't that big of a deal anymore. It's about first party now.

can't we fanboy just get along already?

(for what its worth, I think Square will keep theyr games for Nintendo/Sony systems)
