Adorable new Lair screenshots!

For the hour, the play does not have date for precise exit. Regardless of the fun English translation, it's true -- we don't know when Lair is coming even though we should. But every other day or so, it seems we're given a new mini-set of screenshots. This time, it's all about the dragons. Last time, it was... all about... the dragons. Okay, so there's definitely a dragon fetish in this game, but it doesn't matter -- it's shaping up to be a pretty fun title. We assume. We'll keep you posted when a firm release date is set. Until then, enjoy!

1. Looks great, much improved over the last time I saw it. I'm still very worried about the controls, however. It was barely playable when I picked it up a while ago. Here's to hoping that they've ironed that out, too. I guess we'll see at GDC. -Crosses fingers-.

2. I've seen in videos that the motion controls seem to lag enormously (as in, the dragon takes 1 second or more to react to movement). Is this what you mean by "barely playable"?

3. Please release this. PS3 owners are being smacked down with awesome games on the 360 like "Gears", "Lost Planet", and "Crackdown". They need to put in the overtime and just get the job done. Don't rush it but get it done in a timely manner. "Virtua Fighter 5's" allure will not last long.

4. Xbox 360 only has one exclusive game above 90 in metacritic. PS3 only needs this one to keep up. By the end of the year, both will be almost equal in amount of 90+ and 80+ games.

5. Ps3 also costs $100 - $200 more than Xbox 360. Going to need more than just one good game.

6. This game reminds me of Drakengard, which I didn't like. Maybe it will be better and less repetitive.

@bootsielon: Do reviews really matter that much? If the games are fun then the games are fun.

7. I think the 1 second lag is pretty neat actually. Think about it, lets assume dragons were real, would a giant creature have split second timing as soon as u pull on the reigns. Think of it as riding a horse, except much much bigger.

8. Well Rowdy Rob, that looks good on paper but I bet the gameplay mechanics of it are absolutely absurd.

I want to defend the PS3 as well but lets not be blind about it. Comparing systems games by their metarating is just plain stupid. Just because they dont have more games over 90 why are they still selling like hotcakes? GoW, Lost Planet, Dead Rising, Crackdown, etc? Ratings mean nothing if the game sells, look at the attach rate the 360 has. When we get more good selling games for the PS3 I think we will be able to claw into that lead but you cant say we just need one game to be even.

10. Sonyguy:

I do believe that critically acclaimed games have some correlation with being commercially acclaimed. Not a 100% correlation, that's definite, but there's surely a correlation.

On my case, I buy mostly games that are 80 and above, or of genres and franchises that I might be a fan off, but that are mostly liked by fans and not much else (like mortal kombat).

Still, it's harder to maker a critically acclaimed one than a commercially acclaimed one. To have a commercial success, either throw a lot of advertising into it, or get a well known franchise on board.

Well known franchises (Devil May Cry, Ninja Gaiden, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, Gran Turismo, Wipeout, Ratchet and Clank, God or War) and highly advertized ones (Motorstorm, Warhawk, Killzone, Resistance) are on board the PS3 wagon already, and launching this year (or early next at the latest), now it needs some original titles, potentially becoming critically acclaimed, like this one. This one could potentially be a critically acclaimed game. Another two in the same category would be heavenly sword and white knight story.

I think there are a lot of people on the fence of buying a PS3, even before getting an Xbox 360. These people, are just waiting for one or two of these games to come out.

I think we will see lots of surprises in march by the time it is released in Europe. I believe we will see lot's of surprises regarding PS3 and PSP this year. I also don't think a price drop is too far off; Blu-ray players will be a lot cheaper by the end of this year, and I'm also betting on Sony reducing some component's size (like the cell and RSX, perhaps even memory or some other things) or completely eliminating others (like the emotion engine). I believe there will be price drops by the holidays for all three major consoles. The most expensive PS3 will probably cost 500 dollars, but will be bundled with a lot of things (like three games perhaps).

PS3 FTW
