Playstation's official backwards compatibility list

This is to all those who think Sony's been lying down on the job. How about a comprehensive search of any and every US Playstation and Playstation 2 title you can think of? How about Sony listing any problems the game presents with backwards compatibility? No more how's about's it's. Search for yourself and see if your personal gaming library will have any issues with your PS3.

This is almost a game in itself -- try to find the title with the most glaring errors! From our searchings, the original Playstation titles are pretty much error-free, so we'd recommend seeking out PS2 games for this fun contest. Winner gets a PS3! Just kidding. Winner gets to laugh at everyone else.

1. Hmmmm...Okami isn't in the registry. Good news or bad?

2. Pretty much every game suffers from this: piss poor image resizing. The PS3 somehow resizes the PS1/PS2 screen output to fit your TV... except without any filtering whatsoever.

What you get is a grid-like double pixel effect that's most noticeable when seeing a 2D object scrolling.

Funny thing is, ps2 games running in progressive scan run fine, without this visual flaw.

3. The site seems to be getting hammered at the moment, but this is off the top of my head from some earlier searches:

Okami is there, and apparently the problems it had were fixed with the 1.10 firmware update.

Oddly enough, Guitar Hero 1 and 2 were also both listed as having no major compatibility issues.

So I guess you can play them...except for the part where you can't actually use the controller that is required to play them...

4. i know it defeats the whole purpose and is probably no fun but... can you play guitar hero with a standard controller?

5. i think you can.
and it looks like ffviii has a problem.

6. A few Mortal Kombats and a few Gran Turismos have problems.

7. Most PS1 Final Fantasies have issues (albeit minor). Looks like I'll be keeping the PS2 if I ever upgrade.

8. I can't play Tomba, or Megaman Legends?!
Unless I'm doing it wrong?

9. Both Mega Man Legends are listed as fine. Squaresoft's entire PS1 library looks to have taken a beating, though; the worst off appears to be FFV in FF Anthology, which hangs when you try to save.
