Sega releases new Stormrise trailer

Download to PSP

Sega has released a new trailer for the upcoming console RTS Stormrise. The video, found above, shows off the sort of battles you can come to expect in the game. Footage is recorded from within the game engine, so no CG here. How does it look? There are some interesting character designs, but we're still in two minds about Real Time Strategy gameplay on a console. Regardless, the game isn't out until 2009, so no point getting too hyped up. There're plenty of games that are coming out before then that require your attention. Almost too many.

World in Conflict announced for PS3

The stellar PC strategy game, World in Conflict, has been announced for PS3 today. Formerly a Xbox 360 console exclusive, Sierra has rightly delayed console development to make sure both PS3 and 360 owners can enjoy one of the best RTS games of last year.

"World in Conflict was one of the best games on any platform in 2007 and its innovative action-focused gameplay makes it a perfect fit for the transition to consoles," said Martin Tremblay, president of worldwide studios, Sierra Entertainment. "World in Conflict is being reinvented for Xbox 360 and the PS3, with innovative features and new single player and multiplayer content created for the console audience. World in Conflict on consoles will be an amazing extension of an already great gaming franchise."

For the uninitiated, World in Conflict takes place in a fictional past, where the Cold War didn't end. As Russian troops surprise attack the West, players must use whatever they can to regain the initiative and fight back the massive Russian army. The game is being planned for console release this Fall.

RUMOR: Command and Conquer 3 coming to PS3 and Wii?

Here's another rumor to satisfy your hunger for all things curious and interesting -- Command and Conquer 3 might just make its way onto the PS3 and Wii, in addition to its upcoming release on the 360 and the couple-of-weeks-age release on the PC. Since the game is getting tossed around by EA, we're hardly surprised. About the PS3 version, Senior Producer Mike Glosecki said: "I don't see why it's not feasible," citing also how the controls are nearly identical.

The Wii version really does add a new breath of life to RTS titles -- in our opinion, it would be the best console version to get. Why? The motion sensor would really make moving around the map simple and highlighting groups would be a snap (just think, holding the trigger button and using another button to select specific troops, kind of like how ctrl+click works on the PC). Wait. Is it ctrl+click? The last RTS game Nick done played on the computer was Dune 2000. Well, you get the idea. The issue with the Wii version is the lack of power. The game won't look as good, says Glosecki. Which version would you guys ultimately buy if your PC somehow exploded into tiny bits?
