Last February, THQ offhandedly mentioned that their Red Faction series is one of the six franchises they were working on. Today, during their quarterly earning reports, the head of THQ officially announced the development of a new Red Faction title. No additional details were announced, but considering that the previous two Red Faction titles were on the PS2, it's reasonable to assume that the PS3 will be getting another dose of geo-deformation Total Recall-esque fun. We'll have more information as soon as we get it!Posts with tag redfaction
New Red Faction game announced
Last February, THQ offhandedly mentioned that their Red Faction series is one of the six franchises they were working on. Today, during their quarterly earning reports, the head of THQ officially announced the development of a new Red Faction title. No additional details were announced, but considering that the previous two Red Faction titles were on the PS2, it's reasonable to assume that the PS3 will be getting another dose of geo-deformation Total Recall-esque fun. We'll have more information as soon as we get it!Just announced: Fracture by Lucasarts and Day 1 Studios!

Lucasarts just announced a brand new third-person shooter in collaboration with Day 1 Studios. Titled Fracture, the shooter is set in America in the year 2161, and is supposed to integrate highly destructive environments into its gameplay. The story involves an East vs West divide along the Mississippi, with mutants on one half and cybernetically enhanced humans on the other. Now, everybody knows that cyborgs and mutants hate each other, so of course, conflict is natural.
As Joystiq points out, the whole 'destructive environments' thing is something we've heard many times before and it has never really been delivered. I loved the Red Faction series myself - but I always thought it was odd how the second one actually toned down the destructive environments. I liked taking down whole bridges with people on them. It was fun.

THQ announces six franchises to be worked on
THQ CEO Brian Farrell had a conference call recently and thanks to PS3Fanboy tapping all major developer's phone lines (not really... but that would yield some priceless news!), we've learned of six franchises THQ wishes to bring back for some previously unannounced sequels.Farrell belted the titles he wanted to bring back almost as if he had them written down on a napkin: "Saints Row, Stuntman, which will be released this year, Juiced, which is a sequel to the product we launched a couple years ago, Destroy All Humans, MX, and my favorite, Red Faction." This is awesome! With Saints Row on it's way to the PS3, we might see a sequel fairly close to our completion of the first, unless he was referring to the PS3 version of the original. And Red Faction? Heck yes. The first one was a lot of fun. Never played the second. This is good news from THQ! Which game are you guys looking forward to seeing again from this list?
