The $15,000 Gran Turismo 5 Prologue GT Racing Pod

We see you. We see you salivating all over your keyboard. If you are a serious Gran Turismo fan, this is the stuff dreams are made of. The winner of the Gran Turismo 5 Prologue Middle East Challenge Ahmad El Azmi received a free trip to Japan to drive a Nissan GT-R and he took home the above GT Racing Pod. Valued at $15,000, the Racing Pod is equipped with a 40" Sony Bravia TV, a PS3 and a Logitech Driving Force GT Racing Wheel.

However, El Azmi wasn't satisfied with the setup, and decided to disassemble and reassembled the entire Pod. He added a shifter mounter, inverted stand for the pedals, a surround sound system and replaced the DFGT with a Logitech G25 Racing Wheel. Kudos to you, sir, you have successfully made the world jealous. He was even kind enough to share with us -- check out the rest of the pictures after the jump.

Logitech unveils premium peripherals for Guitar Hero: World Tour

Not to be outdone by Rock Band's premium drum controller, Activision has announced a collaboration with Logitech to produce a line of "premium instrument controllers." No specific type of controller or prices were given, all we know is they will be "compatible with Guitar Hero: World Tour's advanced feature set" and they will begin arriving "later this year." Bruce Lancaster, the VP of Logitech's gaming business compares their entry into the the market for fake instruments to their entry into the market for fake steering wheels. So, what kind of premium "instruments" are you looking for and how much are you willing to dish out for one of these babies?

GDC08: Logitech reveals the "offical wheel of Gran Turismo"

Logitech has today unveiled the Logitech Driving Force GT, the "official wheel of Gran Turismo". Available in May in both America and Europe, the completely over the top (but totally cool) steering wheel will retail for $149.99. There's no suggested European price, but don't expect it to be much less than £100. It'll be totally worth it according to Logitech's Director of Marketing, Ruben Mookerjee, who says that "with the Logitech Driving Force GT, you're not playing games anymore – you're racing!" Hilarious!

The Driving Force GT is built especially for Gran Turismo 5 and Prologue, but will also work great with Gran Turismo 3 and 4 on the PS2. It has full force-feedback support and if you want to see what the wheel looks like from all sides, be sure to check out our gallery below. We'll have some hands-on impressions up for you from GDC before too long.

Deal of the day: Logitech Precision controller for $10 at Amazon

Yeah, we know what you're saying to yourself, "This is a really great deal!" right? Well, it is, but you'll have to do a little more work than usual. To get the wireless Logitech Precision controller for $10, you have to buy it by today and submit a $20 mail-in rebate by the end of January. This deal effectively ends at the last second of the year.

Even without the $20 MIR, you'd still be getting the controller for $10 off its listed price of $40, so we'd say this is a pretty darn good deal either way.

So if you opened up a shiny new PS3 this Christmas but need an extra controller or two, you can't really get a better deal than this. You just better hop on it before it's too late!

Logitech's shiny Bluetooth keyboard and headset

Need more accessories that match your PS3's sexy piano black coat? Logitech has got your back. Coming soon are a Bluetooth gaming headset and a Bluetooth keyboard with touch pad, both in that shade of black that PS3 owners can't get enough of. The laptop runs on 2 AA batteries, but the headset comes with a rechargeable battery. The Cordless Vantage Headset and the Cordless MediaBoard Pro will retail for $79.99 each.

Just a guess, but maybe this Logitech headset is higher quality than the one bundled with Warhawk? Hardcore Warhawk fans (or those who bought the download version) might want to keep an eye out for this headset.

Logitech: PS3 controller alternative, or shenanigans?

Calling Logitech's new wireless controller a "PS3 controller" is a bit of a stretch. We'd love to watch anyone with this controller play Folklore once it comes out. Yeah, having trouble capturing those souls? It's because the darn thing doesn't have any motion-sensing technology in it. They gave it rumble, though. This brings us back to our original point -- this controller is not a PlayStation 3 controller, rather, a wireless PlayStation 3 compatible controller to play your PS2 games with the rumble goodness you so dearly miss.

For $40 and the added joy of repeated AA battery purchases (50 hour battery life? Hats off, if possible), did Logitech really think this peripheral through before releasing it to the masses? If it's going to be a PlayStation 3 controller, it should include both rumble and motion. It's called forward-thinking. PS3 will have rumble eventually, but motion is an integral part of the system. Bottom line: if you want to play your PS2 games wirelessly on the PS3 with rumble, this is a decent option. Don't try to play Lair with it, though. Your dragon will never, ever, ever move.
