Full Guitar Hero Aerosmith tracklist revealed
You probably know how we feel about the direction that the Guitar Hero franchise is headed in -- and some of you may even agree. But the time to put your money where your mouth is is almost upon us as Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is ready to release very soon. We've got the full track list for your perusal after the break, so have a look and see what you think. Our thoughts? That's a whole lot of Aerosmith. For fans of the band this is no doubt a real treat, but for the rest of us, not so much.
Sure, there's some non-Aerosmith stuff in there, but not really enough to get us interested. Why isn't this a DLC pack, again? Check out the full tracklist after the jump and let us know what you think in the comments.

Activision, MTV Games going for Beatles rights?
Back in March, we heard rumblings about interest in a Beatles solo-Guitar Hero game similar to what's going on with Aerosmith and Metallica. Around that same time, rumors of Beatles songs going to iTunes hit and gave signs of a potentially broadening license catalog where there virtually was none before. What this means is that we know for sure the rights holders have interest in bringing out the songs; the question now is: who will get them? A victor might be found quickly as a deal could be "reached in a matter of weeks." E3 fits into that time frame; perhaps we'll know then?

Next Guitar Hero III DLC pack to include new Coldplay single

The songs included in the Coldplay pack will be "Violet Hill," from the new album "Viva la Vida," along with earlier songs "Yellow" and "God Put A Smile Upon Your Face." This marks the third of five announced DLC packs for the month of June, with two more yet to be announced. We have to say, the Guitar Hero III DLC is definitely gathering steam. Shame it couldn't have been this good back in November, when the game first released.

Free God of War based Guitar Hero track revealed
It seems like a pretty fun track to play and, considering the price, is a must-grab for any Guitar Hero or God of War fan. It's a shame the song doesn't add Kratos as a playable character in the game. That would be something to behold. Be sure to check out the tune in the video above, if you haven't already.
Coldplay to make Guitar Hero debut
According to Entertainment Weekly, British music act Coldplay have said that their single, Violet Hill, will be on Guitar Hero. The article did not specify which Guitar Hero this will be, but it's more likely than not to be Guitar Hero III since it was mentioned that the track will be DLC.
The downloadable song is part of a huge publicity campaign for the band's new album, Vida La Vida, which is out June 17. A date was also not specified, but it's safe to assume that Violet Hill will appear sometime before, around, or on June 17.

SEC filing reveals further flogging of the Guitar Hero horse
Wedbush Morgan analyst Edward Woo discovered something interesting whilst nosing through a recent SEC filing of Activision's. Along with the already announced Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, Guitar Hero: On Tour and Guitar Hero: World Tour, Activision has listed Guitar Hero: Metallica for their fiscal '09 plans. The assumption is that the next band-based title in the Guitar Hero series will come after Guitar Hero IV (World Tour)'s holiday release. This follows the pattern of Guitar Hero [X] and Guitar Hero [Subtitle] that we've seen since Guitar Hero II's release in 2006.
There are no other details on the game, but no doubt we'll hear about it sometime this year. The only thing we're curious about is whether Activision has managed to secure exclusive rights to Metallica's music, like they have with Aerosmith. We certainly hope not.

Joystiq gets some hands on time with Guitar Hero Aerosmith
Joystiq have posted their hands-on impressions with the latest in the Guitar Zero franchise. From what they're saying, it seems peoples expectations might've been right on the money. Guitar Hero Aerosmith is Guitar Hero III, but with more Aerosmith. A lot more. Fourteen of the twenty-five tracks are by the eponymous band, with groups such as Joan Jett, Run DMC and The Clash making up the rest.
The overarching question, when it comes to GH: A, is "why isn't this a DLC pack?" There's no real reason, other than Activision trying to stick their fingers where they're not wanted. Namely, inside your wallet. With standalone copies retailing between $50 and $60, not to mention the $99 peripheral bundle (same guitar as GHIII, with an Aerosmith faceplate) Activision will be raking in a lot more than they would from a DLC pack. Even with their famously high DLC prices.
Check out the full hands-on article for more info, including a full track list for the game.

Here come the drums in this Guitar Hero World Tour trailer
We're not prejudice towards Guitar Rock Hero Band World Tour. We're holding out until we can try all the aspects of the game first hand -- particularly the content creation stuff. In the meantime, however, videos like this don't really help. Did you hear the drums are wireless? We thought we'd mention it in case the video didn't push that point enough for you. That's sarcasm, by the way.

Activision details Guitar Hero World Tour's features

World Tour will have the "largest on-disc set list in a music-rhythm game to-date," all of which will be master recordings. Expect to see songs from the likes of Van Halen, Linkin Park, The Eagles and Sublime. The drum set promises to be the most realistic videogame drumset available, with three drum pads, two raised cymbals and a bass kick pedal. There will also be "significantly more localized downloadable music than ever before" as well as fully customizable characters, complete with user-generated band logos and cover art.

Guitar Hero meets God of War on June 5th

Guitar Hero World Tour officially unveiled
World Tour also has apparently taken hold of the idea to "record and release your own single" and will integrate user-created content into the game. At least this is one innovation to be found in World Tour that Rock Band hasn't already covered. Forgive us if we're being cynical, but the idea that Guitar Hero wants to further divide the market along with Konami makes us wonder if any of these new titles will be successful. World Tour and Konami's band game will both hit retailers sometime in Fall 2008. It'll be most fun to watch these two clones cannibalize each other.
Deal of the Day: Guitar Hero III bundle for $60
If you missed out on this generation of music gaming, this deal from amazon.com may help kickstart the habit. The Guitar Hero III bundle, which includes a wireless guitar, is now available for $60. Yeah, that's expensive ... but that's $40 cheaper than standard MSRP.
While we're pretty sure this guitar will work in the upcoming Guitar Hero: Aerosmith and Guitar Hero IV, don't expect to use it in Rock Band. If you don't care about cross-series compatibility, this is a pretty stellar deal.

Next Guitar Hero title due out this holiday

There are going to be some innovations for the next title -- expect something more along the lines of Rock Band, like more instruments or vocals. That's really all we know right now, but at least you know you'll be plunking down more cash for more chances at heroism this holiday season.
