Deal of the Day (for Midwesterners): Metal Gear Solid 4 $40 at Meijer

Here's an incredible deal on an incredible game: Metal Gear Solid 4 for $39.99. Unfortunately, it has two major restrictions. First, this must be purchased in-store so you must be in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, or Ohio and close to a Meijer. Secondly, this deal only lasts up till tomorrow, the 5th. Considering today is July 4th, the only chance you'll be able to get this deal is July 5th. Fortunately, if you live in these states you are most likely not far from a Meijer and some of them are open 24 hours. At this price, Midwesterners now have zero excuse for not having this certified triple-A title.

Canadian Deal of the Day: DualShock 3 for $25

We know some of our readers here are from Canada, so we're tossing this Canadian-only promotion out to you. Best Buy has a pretty sweet deal on $25 DualShock 3's -- that's a savings of more than 50 percent off. There is one catch though; you can only get the discounted price if you purchase a copy of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. The total for the game and the controller would come out to about (we really mean aboot) $65, so that's roughly the same as any regular game without a controller. Definitely worth it if you've yet to own either Prologue or rumble for this gen.

[Thanks farfisa!]

Deal of next month: Gamestop's US GameDays sale

Starting June 2, Gamestop will kickoff its annual GameDays sale in the US. Titles across the board are all getting their prices slashed by up to 50 percent. You might want to check that out if you're looking for some games over the summer and are on a tight budget. After the break, check out the full listing of discounted PS3 titles or head on over to PSP Fanboy for the PSP listing. Our sister sites also have lists for their consoles if you're interested, so pop in and see if there are any games you want.

Deal of the Day: 2-for-price-of-1 sale at Best Buy

It's time to check out a certain Best Buy website to see this new Blu-ray movie deal. Basically, you choose two movies on their list and you get them for the price of one movie. We see a few pretty good movies on there, so your hesitation may cost you. This is a buy-one-get-one sale, more or less, so take advantage while you can! Hopefully before the end of the year, the cost of a Blu-ray movie will lower a little bit. We're very tired of seeing new movies costing $35 or even $40.

[Oh, and a very special thanks for never$$hort posting the titles the other day!]

Double Dose of Daily Deals: GRAW2 and Dark Sector

Today we're being ambitious enough to slam your face with two servings of awesome video game bargains. The first is GRAW2 -- located on Amazon for $30 new, or $20 used. People have said it's a great game, so if you think it's worth a measly $20, take the bet.

The second deal is less of a deal but still something to consider if you're dying to play something new. Dark Sector has popped up on Circuit City's website for $40. Whichever deal you take is up to you, but either way you'll get a decent game. Heck, go ahead and take both deals for the price of a brand new PS3 game. It's almost like a two-for-one deal. Almost.

Deal of the Day: Assassin's Creed for $30

It's sad that some games have to be measured by the hotness of their producer and not by the sole merit of the game's inherent distinction. We're of course talking about Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed, an excellent title that had the interwebs chattering for all the wrong reasons.

If you were not one of the droves of morons drooling over Jade, then you actually listened to the news reports and would know that the game was fairly good with excellent visuals, and an alluring, original story. If you haven't picked this game up yet, then the 50% discount at 30 bucks is a good asking price to jump in. Go for it or not, that's your choice; however, just make sure that decision is based on the game itself and not on who's making it, okay?

[Thanks grief!]

Gran Turismo 5: Prologue and Logitech wheel for $100

If you're one of the people who wanted to get the Blu-ray version of Gran Turismo 5: Prologue, we've got a special deal for you today, courtesy of Wal*Mart. Not only can you get the game, but you can get it bundled with the Logitech Driving Force Pro steering wheel thingamajig for a little under $100. Very little under $100. Still, taking the two separately and then comparing this bundle, it's a good deal and necessary for those racing game enthusiasts. Get on it!

Deal of the Day: Eye of Judgment set for $43

Do you remember that last month we had a Deal of the Day where Eye of Judgment was going for only $47? Well, the game just got cheaper by another four smackeroos. At $43, the Eye of Judgment set is a really good deal, considering it's a total savings of 27 greenbacks.

We're assuming that this continually lowered price has something to do with the upcoming Set 2 cards releasing next week. The lowered price probably is meant to rope in new gamers so they can spend their savings on Set 2 cards.

It's a good strategy actually as the original $70 just seemed way too expensive after factoring in the need to buy booster packs, expansions, etc, etc. $43 seems like a good price point to take advantage of if you've been meaning to get into Eye of Judgment.

Deal of the Day: Rock Band goes on sale

Yes, it's a $148 deal. amazon.com has the Rock Band Special Edition (with guitar, drums and microphone) for $148 -- that's $22 cheaper than elsewhere. And with free shipping, you won't have to lug this beast of a package around.

The drum kit is also available by itself, for $69. That's $11 off the regular price.

Oh, and if you don't like music, there's the racing game DiRT for $30.

Deal of the Evening: WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2008 for $30

Wrestling is a strange phenomenon. There are avid fans and there are those who simply find it absolutely confusing. Not the event itself, but the fact the world has allowed it to remain for so long. This deal isn't for them -- it's for you, the fans. Amazon currently has a deal for WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2008 for the low price of $30. This is much less than watching a match on Pay-Per-View, so really, you'd be doing yourselves a big favor.

Deal of the Day: tons of cheap Blu-ray movies

Wondering what to do with that PS3 while your thumbs are recovering from all the video gaming you do daily? How about hunkering down and getting some bargain basement deals on Blu-ray titles you've always wanted, but never actually purchased? Heck, you can get two seasons of Weeds for a total of little more than $30 after shipping. On Blu-ray. There are a lot more deals to be had, so check out the full list at your own discretion and remember: it is the better part of valor ... and prevents going into debt.

Deal: Assassin's Creed, Kane & Lynch for $40 each

Ah, deals. They're either a blessing or a curse, depending on how you want to look at them. Sometimes they're just an undeniably awesome steal; at other times, they're a cleverly disguised way to rope you in on puchasing games you were previously borderline on getting. Throw in the fact that today's deal involves two somewhat politically controversial games in the realm of game journalism -- one more so over the other -- and there's more to it than meets the eye.

But enough of this unnecessary analysis! We're all about the numbers and the savings, right? Right. If anyone's still thinking of picking up either Assassin's Creed or Kane & Lynch and hasn't done so already, then Best Buy probably has the deal for you. Both games are on sale at $39.99; that's 20 bucks worth of savings, politics not included in the box.

Best of the best: Sunday's retail ads

If you're like us and got some much-needed time off during the holidays, you were probably able to catch up on a lot of gaming. And now that you've played all your games and have all those gift cards from Christmas, what is a gamer to do? Well, thanks to CheapyD and speedy1961 at Cheapass Gamer, you'll be able to restock your backlog of games as they've compiled the best deals from this past Sunday's ads.

Best Buy
Circuit City
This is pretty much the cheapest we've seen several of these games, and we're still surprised at how well Resistance has been able to keep its market value despite it being a launch title. Keep in mind, these deals are good for online and in-store, but you'll have to pay for shipping, which can ruin the good deal.

Deal of the day: Logitech Precision controller for $10 at Amazon

Yeah, we know what you're saying to yourself, "This is a really great deal!" right? Well, it is, but you'll have to do a little more work than usual. To get the wireless Logitech Precision controller for $10, you have to buy it by today and submit a $20 mail-in rebate by the end of January. This deal effectively ends at the last second of the year.

Even without the $20 MIR, you'd still be getting the controller for $10 off its listed price of $40, so we'd say this is a pretty darn good deal either way.

So if you opened up a shiny new PS3 this Christmas but need an extra controller or two, you can't really get a better deal than this. You just better hop on it before it's too late!

Get a free PS3 with purchase of Sony HDTV

It appears that despite the fact Christmas has come and gone, Sony is still very much in the giving mood. Right now, it's offering a free 80GB PS3 if you purchase a select Sony HDTV with the Sony Card. We're not sure exactly why, but something smells a little fishy here.

For the most part, Sony is offering up its Bravia line and a few of its rear-projection models in the deal. And since Sony may be dropping support of its rear projections anyway, you might want to choose a Bravia if you're serious about the deal.

To apparently make the deal a little sweeter, you won't have to pay interest for the first year. However, if you don't pay it off within that time frame, the interest, which is at 14.49 percent, is retroactively tacked on. We're not sure how many of you are without a PS3, but this could be one alternative if you expect to come into a healthy sum of money once a rich relative "kicks the bucket" in the next year.
