Eminence records Soulcalibur IV orchestral score
Eminence, a Sydney-based orchestra known mostly for their renditions of popular anime and videogame scores, has been tasked to record the orchestral set pieces for Soulcalibur IV. All in all, Eminence recorded seven music pieces at Trackdown Studios in Sydney, Australia. Eminence's director and concert master, Hiroaki Yura, told IGN that the music they recorded was "mostly the opening, the ending credit, player selection [screen] ... and a little bit of battle music."
Junichi Nakatsuru, the composer for Soulcalibur IV, was also on hand to oversee the recording of his masterpieces. He stated that he was conscious about bringing out the game's story through music. Not just the new title's story but the series long tale: "This Soulcalibur IV project itself is basically the result of all the previous Soulcaliburs and I'm taking all the good bits [from those games]... and building on them."
With a talented group of musicians working on a passionate composer's work, it's safe to assume we can expect to hear excellent music in the final game. To hear just how good Eminence sounds, have a listen to the clip after the break. The clip showcases music from a game unrelated to Soulcalibur; however, we think you'll be impressed from the mad skills nonetheless.

Help name the next Naruto game
Over at the official Naruto fan community, Hokage's Room, Namco Bandai is asking fans of the anime to help them name the new Naruto game for the PS3. The upcoming title is the next in the Ultimate Ninja fighting series and should be coming out later this year.
If you're a Naruto fan, this is an excellent way to get involved with your favorite anime -- especially if you're hyped up for the game. Even if you're not a fan, it might be fun to just drop your suggestion; afterall, how many chances do you have to name a game? It might even lead to a career in game-naming. Perhaps. Check out all the details here.

Namco considering motion control in Soul Calibur IV
While the chances of us getting platform-specific characters, like Spawn, aren't very likely in Soul Calibur IV, Namco is hard at work at offering other bonuses. In an interview with 1up, Katsutoshi Sasaki, the game's director, said his team at Project Soul is looking into the possibility of including Sixaxis motion control. He said it's "something that we're considering, but we'll have to come up with some good ideas for it first."
But that's not all. In the same interview, lead programmer Masaaki Hoshino said they're also hoping to give gamers the ability to save their custom characters to the PS3's memory card and take it to a friend's house to do battle.
Although it seems like it would be difficult for the developers to include any sort of motion control that would make sense, toting your custom characters on a memory card would be pretty handy. All we care about, though, are Ivy's friends and finally some Soul Calibur online action!

Tekken 6's Bob hates skinny people
A few weeks ago, we learned all about Bob's interesting training habits that involved consuming heavy doses of donuts, but until today, we haven't seen the newest Tekken 6 fighter in action.
GamesRadar has published several images that prove, despite Bob's weight problem, he's actually quite a nimble fellow. Who would've thought a character that resembles the late Chris Farley could kick above his head?
Bob and the rest of the Tekken 6 cast are set to hit the PS3 next year.

Eternal Sonata hits PS3 next year, receives bonus content
Now that we know Eternal Sonata is definitely being released on the PS3, we've learned even more good news regarding Bandai Namco's newest RPG - the PS3 version will receive bonus content not found on the Xbox 360's.According to IGN, the PS3's Eternal Sonata will feature new events to flesh out the game's storyline, Crescendo and Serenade will be playable characters and you'll even be able to change your character's outfits.
Although Eternal Sonata was released today on the Xbox 360, PS3 owners have to wait until next year, but, hey, it could be well worth the wait.

Soul Calibur 4 about to reveal its true form
Ever since the announcement was made that Soul Calibur was getting a little side story treatment on the Wii, the fighting game enthusiast crowd let out a collective sigh. They expected a big, next-gen announcement of their favorite fighting franchise. Namco Bandai heard you, oh brave warriors! In just a few short weeks, make your way to the nearest corner store and pick up a copy of the freshest EGM you can find. They'll be unveiling the first look at Soul Calibur 4.As EGM said, "if you're truly looking to give your opponent something to cry about, it's all about wielding sharpened steel, and nothing beats Namco Bandai's Soul Calibur series for weapon-based fighting thrills. In our world-exclusive preview, we'll reveal the future direction of this beloved series." We know the future direction! It's definitely headed towards the PS3 and probably the 360. We can't wait to grab our copy on July 3rd. Once we get the info, we'll gladly forward it to you.
Namco not happy about PS3 sales, states new plan
Namco Bandai shot out a statement recently that went over their latest software plans for the next-gen consoles. Citing slower sales than expected from the PS3, they imagine their Gundam Musou title (Dynasty Warriors: Gundam outside of Japan) will only sell 300,000 copies instead of their previously estimated 500,000.From their statement: "PS3 did not make a good start, which will make the transition from the old game console to the next generation system more prolonged than we had earlier thought. This will keep a lid on sales of our video games in the first half, although we believe that sales of PS3 will increase in the second half (to March 2008)."
Namco Bandai announced a total of 23 PlayStation 3 titles in that time frame (24 for the 360) and the Nintendo Wii gets the majority of 37 titles. This translates to one thing: multi-platform. If the PS3 sales are slow, which they are, then Namco Bandai isn't going to stick around and keep making exclusive titles on Sony's platform. Why else would there be more for the 360 than the PS3? They've got one exclusive, we think, and most of the others will be multi-platform. Whatever the case, let's hope sales pick up so Namco Bandai can make a fantastic game utlizing the full potential of the PS3.
Namco Bandai present incredible earnings
It's no secret that Namco Bandai is a huge advocate of Sony and the PlayStation 3 -- just like how Capcom might be a huge advocate for Microsoft and the XBox 360. There's no shame in it. Every developer and publisher might find their niche in certain hardware and dev kits. That's why when Namco Bandai (hereafter known as NamBan for the heck of it) released their earning statements for the period ending March 31st, we must rejoice at their success.First up, NamBan's full year profits were in the green with a 71% growth, despite slower-than-expected sales of the PS3 and its games. The last quarter ending saw an increase of 1.8% in net sales (about $3.83 billion). Most game sales were generated in Japan, with heavy hitters including Gundam, Tamagotchi (seriously?), and Power Rangers (seriously!).
They're doing well and expect to increase further next year. They propose a 4.5% increase to net sales, operating income to rise 6.6%, and net income to go up by about 9.3%. None of this matters, though, unless we go out and buy their games. So, everyone together now, let's say that tired line we know and love: Riiiiiiiiiiiiidge Racer! Break!
Ace Combat 6: a Timed exclusive for the 360
Back when it was just a rumor circulating a Microsoft-centric website, Famitsu scans revealing Sony-staple Ace Combat 6 pushed onto the 360 seemed like another hit against Sony. Turns out it is, but it's not a critical hit for massive damage. Just a regular ol' hit, since it has recently been revealed that the title will be a timed exclusive for the 360.The news is taken from the PS3Forums, but they've gotten the information from the Official XBox Magazine, so we're going to let this one slide as the truth. The thing is -- when the PS3 owners get their hands on it after a few months, what sort of special features or tweaks will have been made? Seems we've something to get excited over after all. Oh, and no, the screenshot isn't the actual boxart. But it's a cool one.

Tekken 6 -- coming to an arcade probably far away from you!
I said this to one of the folks who took the time to shoot me a message on the PlayStation Network (NDoerrFans, if you're interested), but before I gave Virtua Fighter 5 the ol' test, I had only played Soul Calibur as far as 3D fighters go -- and I hated them. Raised on Street Fighter 2, Samurai Showdown, Guilty Gear, Guilty Gear X (never did pick up X2), I found the "realisitic" fighters slow, boring and pretty clunky. I still think high-res 2D fighters are the top-tier of awesome, but that's a different style of play. Now I'm interested in Tekken 6 as well as Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection (coming on March 1st to the US PS-Store, according to IGN's release date schedule) since Virtua Fighter 5 has become my favorite PS3 game.Tekken 6 is coming to arcades this year. Namco-Bandai hasn't been really specific about it, but they're going to begin location testing before the weather gets hot. So, look around your arcades around, oh, May? In Athens, there's only one arcade in a really crummy mall and the arcade... sucks. So we'll leave it up to those of you in more popular arcade arenas to let us know how the title looks and plays.
Keep going fast with no load times for Ridge Racer 7!
Fast, fast, fast... fast cars, fast food... fast load times? Whaaat? How about no load times? Yeah, right! Right? Wrong. The PS3 makes a fantastic idea come to life with the announcement that Riiiiiiidge Racer 7 can be loaded completely and neatly onto your hard drive. That means absolutely no waiting to get your race on. How hot is that? To quote the producer of the game, "This is not necessary in order to play the game...you can have everything read off of the Blu-ray disc. It's just an optional user-friendly feature, because when you want to race, you don't want to wait!" So no worries mate, if you'd rather keep that hard-drive space for something other than an entire game, you can. What we want to know is this: will this become a normal feature? Will we be able to load an entire game onto our hard-drive, eliminate load times, and erase it (but not the save!) when we finish it up? Perhaps that's part of why Sony has been addicted to finding security features to prevent copying, etc. Personally, this sounds like a great idea. Sure, you can only have a few games at once on the drive, but it's easy to pick the ones you'll play the most (be it online or otherwise) and leave 'em sit on the PS3. This should be an option for every PS3 game. How is it a bad idea? Oh yeah... storing the game, then selling the disc back as used. But is that bad? You already paid for the game and if you run out of space and delete it -- your loss. Although it does make those next-gen game prices a little bit better. Give us your thoughts on this issue, we're really curious to see your take!
