Play LittleBigPlanet early with PlayStation Experience

Have you been aching to play LittleBigPlanet? If you have, then perhaps you might want to check out the PlayStation Experience -- a roving 10-wheel truck of PlayStation gaming goodness -- when it swings by your town, or a town near your town. The truck will be making stops at certain events across the USA this summer and people can come up and try out LittleBigPlanet, SingStar, and Rock Band.

A second mammoth truck dubbed PlayStation Patrol will also be going cross-country. This one will have kiosks and a player's lounge for playing Metal Gear Solid 4, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, and tons of PSP games. For tour dates and when to expect these trucks to roll into a place near you, check here for Experience and here for Patrol. Hit up the PlayStation.Blog for some pics of the big rig sets.

Phil Harrison talks GT 5 Prologue, Trophies, and more

Game Informer has posted a great post-E3 interview with Phil Harrison where he talks about Trophies, Sony's response to Gamer Scores, and the ever popular GT 5 Prologue. For GT 5 Prologue, Phil clarified that unlike GT HD, this will be a full game with a full feature set. While he wasn't willing to go into specifics at the number of tracks and cars that will be available in the game when it is released later this year, he indicated that it won't be nearly as stripped down as GT HD and will actually represent what GT 5 will be like.

When it came to Trophies, he mentioned that they are actively looking at creating 'retro-Trophies' for older games like Resistance and Motorstorm. It wasn't clear if this would mean you would have to replay the games to get the Trophies, or if they would be automatically awarded based on your past performance -- either way it's very cool to hear Sony is working on this. This is something fans have been asking for since they heard about Sony's Trophy idea and is a pretty exciting idea.

Phil also (kind of) talked about their response to Microsoft's bizarrely popular Gamer Scores. He danced around the question a bit, clearly not wanting to reveal too much information but he did give a hint that they're going to avoid a point based system. It's going to be interesting to see how they're able to great a non-point system -- maybe they'll reward you with a number of Loco Rocos depending on your score!

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue coming to Japan in October

You thought you'd have to wait until 2008 for some Gran Turismo fun, didn't you? Well you can stop thinking that right now as the latest piece of news to come out of the PlayStation Premiere event in Tokyo is an announcement that GT 5 prologue will be available in Japan in October. What is effectively a demo for Gran Turismo 5 will feature full online support as well as some cars which will be featuring in this year's Tokyo Motor Show.

Whether it will be available in the US or EU in October is up in the air, however it's fairly safe to assume it will be out before the end of the year. There is no word yet on what the price will be for the download, considering the current PSN offering is downloadable for free.

Rumor: New PSN titles for the summer and fall - Loco Roco, GT 5 Prologue, and more! [UPDATE- Sony responds]

French gaming mega-site PlayFrance has posted a list of Sony titles coming out in Europe between now and this October and they've revealed a bunch of unheard of titles. Not only do they confirm that both Loco Roco PSN and GT 5 Prologue are coming out in the next couple months, they also listed three previously unheard of games:
  • EyeToy Play Factory 1
  • EyeToy Play Factory 2
  • Chills
No other information was given about these, though they also confirmed Loco Roco 2 coming out for the PSP this year. So what's the possibility of this list being real? Well, PlayFrance is a very reputable site, but it seems a little iffy that Sony would announce 5 new PSN titles in such a way. Did somebody accidentally spill the beans on some of the 'surprises' that Jack Tretton hinted at a week ago? It's hard to tell at this point, but we've contacted Sony and are awaiting a response about the validity of this list.

Update:
When we asked Sony about the validity of the list, Dave Karraker had the following to say:

"I checked on this with our people in France. They have no idea where this information is from and say it is wholly inaccurate. The only games they have announced in that territory are Warhawk, Super Stardust and Snakeball."

So until we get more info, consider this rumor to debunked.

Update 2:
PlayFrance has taken the page down. Consider the rumor to be thoroughly debunked now.
