A poster on Capcom Unity's forums has received an answer to the question of whether Devil May Cry 4 and Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix will be getting the trophy treatment and it is no. Capcom feels that DMC4 already has "its own little trophylike system" and the Puzzle Fighter team has moved on to other projects.
There is a tiny bit of good news though, Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix may have trophies implemented, but it will depend on "what schedules look like and what Sony's requirements are." The only real good news is future games from Capcom will all have trophies, as it has "been worked into CEI's developer contracts as a required deliverable." Have other publishers signed such a contract?
This is rather disappointing, but after a string of suchreports, we are not surprised. We are just really hoping SSF2T HD Remix will have support.

Capcom's blog has posted some art from the earlier anime trailer -- it includes old favorites like Ryu, Ken, and Akuma (Gouki). Gouken is also shown here, described as the master of Ryu and Ken, and the older brother of Akuma, though we are not sure if it is a literal brother or something else. Finally, Capcom teases about animation that will feature Chun-Li around July 24th. Take a look at all the pictures here.

UGO has landed an interview with Resident Evil 5 producer Jun Takeuchi to discuss the upcoming survival horror sequel. Takeuchi begins by defending the RE5 team's decision to use Africa as a backdrop, insisting it is not a race issue. In fact, Chris will not even leave Africa for the entirety of the game. Gameplay-wise, he tells us in the current version of the game, it will allow you to "switch weapons in real time but we can't 100% confirm that that's how the final game will end up." Another gameplay element highlighted is destructible environments -- seemingly safe hiding places can be eliminated by getting knocked down.
Takeuchi also speaks of utilizing next-gen console technology to create "bright, outdoor environments" with an "action-based, a different kind of horror." Quick-time events will also remain in the game, but will "be much more active." Takeuchi then teases everyone by glancing at a PR representative when asked about a co-op mode and responding with "Right now I don't have anything to say about that. All I can say is just wait for E3." He is right, we can't wait for E3 to find out more!

These posters are such beauties, and we want them. Unfortunately, they are in Japan. A black one with an orange IV logo features Ryu with new characters Crimson Viper, Abel, El Fuerte and Rufus. An orange one with a black IV logo features old favorites Guile, Ken and Chun-Li. Capcom-Unity blogger Kramez has two pictures of the Street Fighter IV posters held up by SFIV producer Yoshinori Ono. Another one after the jump. Check them out and drool.

Earlier in the week, PlayStation Lifestyle reported a rumor that Resident Evil 5 would be a Xbox 360 timed exclusive. Thankfully, they turned out to be wrong. According to Capcom's Sven, "the assertion is false. RE5 is a multiplatform release that fits with our oft-stated crossplatform strategy." It was an easy rumor to start, as many PlayStation fans are still bitter about Capcom's treatment of the PS3: the loss of Devil May Cry exclusivity, the lack of a proper Dead Rising port, and the loss of a Monster Hunter game for the PS3.
Thankfully, this is one of the rumors that has quickly bit the dust. Resident Evil 5 will launch simultaneously on both PS3 and Xbox 360 ... some time.

You guys remember the OFLC right? They're Australia's version of the ESRB and the guys who had GTA IVcensored. However, this time around news is positive concerning the OFLC as a filing with them revealed the possibility of Mega Man 9. Of course, don't be fooled by the relatively small "9" on the end there; there has been so many Mega Man titles that in reality it's really something like Mega Man 112. The OFLC shows that the name was registered last Friday and will be a multiplatform release.
We wonder: why was the title registered specifically with OFLC? Perhaps Capcom knew there were many eyes watching the ESRB and wanted to keep this one super-secret by sneaking down under first. It looks like that tactic didn't work out.
Some PS3 fans were angry at Capcom when they announced Commando 3 on XBLA will include a free beta for Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix ... but not on PSN. In Capcom's attempt to prove their loyalty to the PlayStation community, they're releasing Commando 3 on PSN one week before the XBLA version. That means ... today.
With the addition of Commando 3 to today's lineup, this is going to be one of the best (and most expensive) Store updates ever. The downloadable title will be available for $10 when it launches in but a few hours.
Also, Capcom's John Diamonon promises PlayStation fans that there will be some "cool stuff" for PlayStation fans of Street Fighter. What that entails, we don't know quite yet ... but it may very well be the key to earning some street cred amongst PS3 fans (read: this bonus better not be another port of Lost Planet).
It turns out that online play and new characters are not the only exclusive content to appear on the home console versions of Street Fighter IV. First and foremost, new content like the introduction of fully animated cut scenes will help flesh out Street Fighter IV's story. The story explaining why M. Bison is alive and kicking will be addressed in these anime sequences. The second major content addition is the possibility of bonus rounds making a comeback. Remember all those barrel busting and car demolishing mini-games back in SF II?
Lastly, an arcade joystick is said to be in the works for all those arcade enthusiasts that can't settle for a d-pad. It's also possible that this arcade controller might come in a bundle with the game. Check out Kotaku for more pics of the anime cut scenes.

When Joystiq attended the Captivate '08 event, they expected Dark Void to hit shelves a little sooner than Capcom planned. Sadly, Capcom announced the game is still about a year off. This isn't really bad news, since the early version of the game is incredibly eye-catching. Check out Joystiq's hand-on post to see exactly what they thought of it.
Also of note was the announcement that the game will not feature any multiplayer aspects. Kraig Kujawa, director of design with Capcom US said they "explored it, but there are so many huge features in this game, we really wanted to focus on making the most kick-ass single player features possible." He goes on to say they had a multiplayer mode up and running, but could tell the game would merit more from the "million innovative things that we're doing that haven't been done before and we have to get those right in the single-player experience." We'll see how things shape up over the next year, then.
Hit the jump for another Dark Void video straight from Capcom's Captivate 08 event.
This new Bionic Commando trailer, shown at Capcom's Captivate 08 event, shows some of the game's multiplayer gameplay, It also reminds us of a mixture of Halo (what with the brightly colored armor) and Grand Theft Auto IV. An intriguingly bizarre combination, we're sure you agree. Joystiq got some hands on time with the title at the event and seem quite hyped. Once you're done watching this video, be sure to check out their impressions to see exactly what they thought.
The embargo from Capcom's 2008 gamer's day (Captivate 08) as ended and game media is starting to flood the internet from the event. This includes a couple of Street Fighter IV trailers which show off some new characters, along with plenty of in game footage and some more of that gorgeous ink-and-watercolor style concept art. Check after the break for another video which shows off some more of the incredible art style. Enjoy!
It's the "epic return" of Street Fighter, according to Capcom's newest TV spot. We don't know how we feel about the use of Faith no More's appropriately-titled "Epic" as the trailer music, but using any popular music does seem to make a game more appealing to the mainstream. There isn't any new footage to be found in this brief trailer, but it makes us happy to finally see the PLAYSTATION 3 logo at the end of anything SFIV-related.

It seems the home console versions of Street Fighter IV are going to be where it's at. Japan's Famitsu magazine squeezed the information out of the game's producer, Yoshinori Ono, in a recent interview. The console versions will allow you to play against friends via online modes as well as add in some console-exclusive characters. We aren't sure if this means "console specific" like Soul Calibur IV, but some of the exclusive characters have recently been confirmed as Dan and Fei Long. Oh, Dan. You are so very weird. There's also a list of five new characters up on Famitsu, but these aren't console-specific characters, we don't think.
All right, what have we got here? It looks like we're seeing more Street Fighter IV characters. The guy on the left, named Rufus, is morbidly obese and obviously training in the same dojo as Tekken 6's Bob. The fact that he is holding a tub of popcorn could mean one of either two things: he loves movies so much that after watching the new flick (and ogling over Kristin Kreuk) he plans on becoming a street fighter himself, or they just want to exude the fact that this guy is carrying a few extra pounds.
The other guy, Seth, seems to be a mysterious mix of the Silver Surfer and a Buddhist monk. Or so it seems due to that Yin Yang for an abdomen. Throw in his Hebrew name and then he's an even bigger enigma to figure out. Perhaps you'll just have to see more of these characters to understand who they are. You can catch some more pics over at Famitsu's website.
