Sony's ambitious answer to Xbox Live is coming on in leaps and bounds recently. With news that first party titles will receive their own Home spaces, complete with mini games, extra content and game-launching Home is shaping up to be more than the "Second Life clone" some originally pegged it as. The beta received a large update recently which added several shops, items that can be used within the Home environment as well as other improvements to various features, such as the Wardrobe. When Home finally gets released, you can be sure that it'll be well worth the wait.

The PS3 is poised to take control of this generation of consoles. Winning the format war is key, but HOME is bigger than we think. The PS3 needs an answer to XBOX Live and hopefully Home will be able to take the online PS3 experience to the next level.

Home, such as gimmick. I just want a nice interface to interact with my friends, new content, and other dashboard things at the same time on my ps3. Don't need this stupid mini-game.

I'm not so sure I would call Home the "answer to Xbox Live". If Home added in-game chat/messaging, in-game media player, ability to accept requests to play a different game with friends, then certainly it would be a good first step to bringing PSN up to XBL's level. And while the first party support of Home is great, it doesn't mean much if the 3rd parties don't support it as well.

I like the games, but I don't care one bit about Home. It just seems like a nice system of menus and windows could accomplish the same thing much easier, and without having to run a silly avatar around.

Yea home seems a tad...pointless. Don't get me wrong when it comes out i'll download it and walk around for a while but I can't see it becoming bigger than MGS4, LBP or ANY other game I buy for my PS3. It's not going to be "an answer to xbox live" the answer to xbox live is in game XMB and a single cross game friends list. Thats all, it doesn't need to be better it just needs to not be worse.

Being in the HOME Beta, provides a whole different perspective, on what this is about. If you already think you know it all? ...once there you'll find you really know nothing at all! I can't say anything, but many of YOU negative HOME immigrants are about to get your Ignorance of the Truth Farted in your Face! ....and I'll be the first to roll on the floor laughing saying, "I told you so"! :D
