There's a massive wave of gunfire, and he stands in the open and doesn't get shot. Others who do get behind cover are shot. I hate these macho american supermen that fill up games like this. Humble them a bit - like, for example, Solid Snake - he was a rookie in the first couple of games, missed plot connections...etc. Then he was in his prime, but still missed things, and admitted to being depressed and drinking. His relationship with Meryl ended badly. Then he got old and sick. He was still superhuman, but there were character flaws that give the story depth. Resistance doesn't have that - Nathan Hale is as bland a hero as you could make.

precisely! i mean, it's great that they are willing to breathe some character into Nathan Hale this time, but somethings just missing that doesn't let him reach the potential of other great heroes.

but yeah, he should've slid into the hill for cover or find a truck to get behind.
