As reported earlier, firmware 2.40 has been taken down. Playstation.Blog has a post acknowledging problems with their latest firmware and assures us that it's only temporary. A commenter concerned about those who have 2.40 installed already was met with a response of "we've received no reports of hardware issues following a successful install," so those of you who have already installed the firmware have nothing to worry about. Stay with us as more information is available.

I been saying this for a while now, if you did a successful install you are fine.
Bricking happens when the new firmware is first being installed / loaded. If you survive it you are fine.

Um no. No ones systems are bricking - the problems arent with the firmware being properly installed and having hardware issues. Its all software issues and there are plenty of people having problems right now. Hence Sony pulling it from download

My 2.40 works fine. Only GTA freezes which is normal. My question is...
Where is that music player utility displayed in this picture??? I don't get that even just in XMB, not in-game.

If you have music in ur ps3 and the game support it you just need to go to music and select the track u wanna play and when its playing it will display.

Choose a song you want to play and the mini-player will come in, then you can press O to toggle it on/off.

why does in game XMB look smoother in the preview than in action at home?

I bet the PS3s they use for showing new things have hard disk drivers with higher RPMs and size capacities. If your HDD has a higher RPM than the one that comes with the PS3 your content will load faster.

It depends on the game. For example a graphic heavy game like gta there is a slight lag with the in game xmb. However i fired up flow and the in game runs smooth.
