So what is the recently unveiled Life with PlayStation? Well, it takes the globe (featured as a PS3 music visualization) and adds news and weather from around the world. It reminds us of the Wii Weather channel, but in glorious 1080p. Pictures from Watch Impress show the ability to use custom soundtracks. It also appears the channel will integrate with Folding@home in some way, allowing you to cure cancer while reading the daily news.
Life with PlayStation won't be the "next big thing," but it's certainly intriguing. Hopefully, we'll be able to get some hands-on time with it in due time.

I like it. I am hoping that maybe the we can actually see a satellite view of the earth. So we would know if there are typhoons coming in South East Asia, or what kind of weather we are having here in Toronto...I mean seriously...Snow during the Summer?!?!

I'm intrigued that it has custom soundtrack support. Sounds like maybe FW 2.4 can make all titles compatible

Custom soundtracks are currently available in the current version. The developer has to want to take advantage of the feature for you to be able to use it. Look at High Velocity Bowling .... it has had custom soundtrack ability for months on end.

google Earth, yes. Flight simulator sounds like too much. I'm all for the news, weather, Folding@Home, music, and a detailed view of Earth to all be incorporated into one...i didn't realize how helpful that would be until now

Anyone else notice how that the SD version of Ghost Rider was CHEAPER than the SD version? It could be that the $5.99 price is just the rental price, but in the second image the "buy now" button is highlighted and it still says only $5.99

@Draco
Yea, Im guessing that $5.99 is the rental price for the HD version. But now the question is: how much is the download version of the HD version? $20?

Starting to piss me off Sony who needs this crap I mean I bet you this is one of there big surprises to me its starting to look like Sony doesn't care about the gamers.
Wheres my FFXIII you show cased it in you PS3 montages but yet you ain't delivering.
What about the gamers Sony what do we get out of this? Like I care about whether it raining or snowing outside when I'm inside gaming. i have a TV I could just switch it on and get the news if i cared about weather when I'm gaming.

hmm.... FFXIII is not developed by Sony and Sony has no control when Square-enix can finish FFXIII. Doing this kind of applications are not slowing down game development. Of course they could do more applications that has more use for actual gamers.
