We were originally excited about the official Metal Gear Solid 4 headset. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear as though the headset is worth the money. Gadget Madness has posted an incredibly helpful video review of the device, and it highlights the rather poor audio quality produced by the device. The recordings are very fuzzy, to the point where words blur and become indecipherable. Yikes! While this headset may not do the trick, we're confident that Sony's official SOCOM headset will blow away the competition in both quality and value.

At least it's a nice prop. Not worth 60 bucks for a prop that doesn't exist in-game, so there's that.

Wow that thing sounded muffled. And it doesn't even make the classic MGS noises. Boo! Hell The p.o.s. Jabra that came with WarHawk sounds better then this.

But that article doesn't say anything about the sound quality, good or bad.

lol who ever pre orders a headset is stupid. YOU always read the reviews and obv. its a P.o.s. The Socom one will be so much better I can just tell already. I have the EYE and its the best mic ever I can play so far away from my tv and it picks up voice so well and if theres other sounds going on it wont pick it up only ur voice .

i really dont understand why anyone low voted you, or even the idiot who says you sound like a dick. IMO that really is the dumbest thing you can do. bluetooth headsets, like headphones, or speakers are one of the things that you just simply wait to listen to either personally...or wait for reviews. IMO i would liken preordering a headset to ordering a car from a mftr that you've never heard of, simply by looking at some pics of it (and not even know any of the specs either).
yes a car would be a hell of a lot more in terms of money to purchase, as would a good set of speakers, and probably a good set of headphones might cost more as well....but you never ever ever ever buy anything based on specs alone.
it seems like people nowadays, especially younger people have forgot the phrase "caveat emptor"

I just want to know why he was the only one to have problems with it. IGN reviews said it was working fine and that clarity was good.

i hear ppl all the time sounding like they have socks in there mouth's. Some headsets are rly rly bad. I think the Jabra one that came with Warhawk is ok, I got the eye like i said its rly good ppl hear u loud n clear. I think those are the only 2 good ones out so far The socom one i know will be good (PS logo on it says it all). There can also be problems with your router that makes the voice screwed up or sound bad have that port enabled . Someone else please do something like this guy make a call to your phone using it and post it up w/ the results.

TBH I don't think he's making this up, BUT he should have ran the test with the PS3 which is what it was designed for. It also might need to be ajusted (volume).
