Ted Price recently divulged to Eurogamer in a live text interview that both Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 will be receiving Home and trophy support. We've known for awhile now that the first Resistance will be getting the Home treatment, but now it's great to hear confirmation for the second title. However, with Home still light years away, it's really difficult to truly be excited for this. Trophies, on the other hand, are a whole other story.Rumors about trophy support in the upcoming firmware 2.40 update, and footage of BioShock with a trophy icon all give the impression that this hotly anticipated feature will indeed be coming soon. Don't forget that there are a whole list of games recently stated to support trophies as well, and, well, we speculate that trophies will be available by the time Resistance 2 hits this Fall.

This just about confirms the rumors of trophies. All there's left is in-game XMB.

I think I must be the only person on the planet who isn't interested in "teh cheev0s". The whole concept seems childish. It becomes less of, "Hey, I like to play games"; and more "I don't like to play games, just brag about playing them on the internet."

You really, really don't get it.
It's not about e-peen (well for some people it is), it's about extending the replayability of games. Crackdown added 30 hours of extra playtime with achievements doing a lot of stuff that is not only really fun, but also stuff you may or may not have thought to do otherwise.
It's also about the game acknowledging that you've done something cool. You will learn to love useless virtual pats on the back, everyone does ;)
Besides, who says cheevos don't get you anything? I've gotten 4200 free MS points and 2 free XBLA games out of them, and I'm only a casual cheevo fan...

No, I think the problem is that I really, really do get it. What you just described is exactly what I said I'm not interested in. I don't care if you like them, I don't. Get over it.

@anthony
Since when is extending the replayability of a game a bad thing?
and BTW, if you don't care what he thinks, why did you post in the first place?

I never asked him to reply to my post. And I didn't say it is a bad thing, I said I'm not interested.

Some people don't think that checklists count as "extended gameplay".
Anything that's comparable to "kill X number of enemies with Y weapon." is garbage. That's not extended gameplay, that's just farming. The only one halfway decent in GTA4 is "Let sleeping rockstars lie", the rest are just busy work or congratulating you for playing the game. "Finished the first mission" is not an achievement, it's putting the disc in the system and not trying to drive with your feet.
Collect all...
Upgrade all...
Finish all...
I'll acknowledge achievements as inventive or interesting when they manage be either of those things. I haven't heard of one that is yet. And if they made a game that was worth replaying, I'd do that regardless of patronizing, "good job" pop-up boxes.

Cool, I hope they bring them to Tools of Destruction too - it shouldn't be a large update because it's basically all already there!

Why are trophies such a big deal? It was a fun concept when combined with home, you know, decorate your little apartment with different trophies earned. But without Home...what's the point?

I love trophies/achievements/whatever. I don't know why, but there's something in me that just loves the thought of having someone to point at after the game, even if it's just an icon with a number next to it.
I look forward to Home and its trophies... And if Bioshock has some, I'll probably buy it for PS3 (already own it for 360) and beat it again to get the trophies.
I'm still not sure I'll really care much about Home itself, though. Second Life was interesting to me only because I could create my own content... When their servers got hacked and my account was corrupted (happened at the same time, so I'm assuming the 2 things are related) and since their customer service is so horrid that I've still never gotten my account back, I kind of lost interest in it completely.

It's always nice to add to your e-penis, at least it would give me a reason to collect all of the flags in Assassin's Creed....if it gets support.

I will never collect all flags in Assassins Creed. It is horribly time-consuming to find them without a map and using a map is like cheating, so it wouldn't count anyway.
Still i like the idea of trophies, although i can't tell why. Maybe just because it is a new feature or maybe because i like completing things and find it somewhat satisfactory to achieve a 100% (or 101) although i will never see the 100% in GTAIV for the same reason as never finding the flags in AC.

This is why home is being pushed back. All this fuss, but seriously who would want it now?
When it comes in November, it will have LBP and R2 driving it. If it came now it would be rank, cause everyone would complain of how little there is to do.
Stay calm people.
