Joystiq have posted their hands-on impressions with the latest in the Guitar Zero franchise. From what they're saying, it seems peoples expectations might've been right on the money. Guitar Hero Aerosmith is Guitar Hero III, but with more Aerosmith. A lot more. Fourteen of the twenty-five tracks are by the eponymous band, with groups such as Joan Jett, Run DMC and The Clash making up the rest.
The overarching question, when it comes to GH: A, is "why isn't this a DLC pack?" There's no real reason, other than Activision trying to stick their fingers where they're not wanted. Namely, inside your wallet. With standalone copies retailing between $50 and $60, not to mention the $99 peripheral bundle (same guitar as GHIII, with an Aerosmith faceplate) Activision will be raking in a lot more than they would from a DLC pack. Even with their famously high DLC prices.
Check out the full hands-on article for more info, including a full track list for the game.

you'd have to be an idiot to buy this....I've said it before and i'll say it again, make a Bob Marley edition (think of rifts from 'Stirr it up', 'Smoke Two Joints', etc) and a Jimi Hendrix edition. And I mean an actual edition, not just expensive DLC packs like this one..

It is frustrating how this new genre has become stagnant. Activision's GHIV is copying off Rock Band. The choice of music is shallow. This genre needs something like a Bob Marley or a Jimi Hendrix edition to give it a shot in the arm going forward. They need a Funk edition...and bundle it. People who never bought GH/RB because of the musical selection will buy it.

Wow, this is a total ripoff. You say that there is a lot more Aerosmith, but really, I expected even more. There are only 25 songs in total?! I was thinking something more like 35 Aerosmith songs and 10 songs by other bands.

This not all the songs, not by a lot most likely.
Doesn't really make the $60 price tag any less of a ripoff though.

Me thhniks that this is going to be a grade A dud for Activision. I mean if this game had been released in the 80's when Aerosmith were at the height of their popularity it might have garnered some sales, but I just don't see this selling big numbers nowadays.

ZOMFG!!! i can't believe that a game company would stoop so low into regurgitating the same bullshit game over and over and over again to their gullible customers just to make a quick buck!!
oh wait, that's what the whole fucking game industry has become.

I wish my faith in the united voice of gamers against corporate reamings wasn't as doubtful as it is.
People don't care. Children are spoiled and they will buy this stupid thing. I'm sure you have all met the spoiled brats on XBox Live and PSN.
$10 map packs and $20 XBLA titles will become the norm because these kids have no willpower. They are going to jack up the demand for this half-arsed product. They already have Guitar Hero: Metallica on the way.
Don't get me started on Guitar Hero IV's inclusion of drums and vocals. LOL.

It's only a partial list...
I'm going to guess there are two more venues since i assume selections from pump and permanent vacation need to be represented dude looks like a lady, hangman's jury and janie's got a gun would be my guesses. Then the last venue would be the softer pop stuff amazing, i dont wanna miss a thing and maybe something new even.
So 10 more songs to come, at least. The last two venues will probably include hair bands and or modern metal. I suspect Ted Nugent in the next venue since he toured with aerosmith in that period.
