Racing games are a dime a dozen nowadays. What makes an impressive title stand out? Is it the physics, the courses, the car selection, the destruction? Who knows for sure, but we can safely say that GRID is easily an impressive game to check out as this video demonstrates. A lot of you have already tried the demo, but this shows off how well the game is progressing. We'll keep an eye open for this one.
Gee PS3 fanboy.....a few days ago you posted an article (which you quickly retracted) wondering why Grid was being downloaded so much since this was a game that "did not deserve the attention."
Now you are saying the game is "impressive." Talk about being fickle.
I never said the game didn't deserve attention. Not sure why that story was removed, really. I was only saying that without the GameTrailers fiasco, it was just another racing game that could have potentially been overlooked by a lot of people. Which, I believe I did say, would be sad since it seems like it's good due to the amount of demo downloads it's accumulated and the positive press surrounding it. It's not a matter of being fickle; it's a matter of reading text like a dialogue instead of a literal transcribing of black-and-white thoughts.
I have to say after all the hype about GT5 Prologue, I have to say I was pretty dissapointed with GT5 after seeing this game. While perhaps not a visually stunning as GT5 in terms of photorealism (but damn close), hell, Grid shows realtime damage.
Kind of makes you wonder what the hell they are doing at Polyphony when they can't even have the side of the car dimple a little in GT5 when Grid can have the entire skin of the car fly off in multiple parts and your left driving a frame around.
Honestly, I think GT5 Prologue got owned by Grid. Me thinks the real GT5 will be pushed back much later.
.... It may be real time but its not full damage. It gets to a point where the car just doesnt get any more damaged, and the only reason GT doesnt have damage yet is because Polyphony want it to be perfect. Grid is a good game but it has its issues. And you cant really compare them because if you did GT would win. BETTER GRAPHICS. And for about the 100th time GRAN TURISMO IS GETTING FULL DAMAGE VERY SOON!. Im sick of people saying. "zomg why doesnt GT have damage, Grid is so much better."
And im not a Grid hater. I love the game. Im just standing up for GT and its developers. I mean you try making a game that good and have people shout at you just because it doesnt have damage when they have made SEVERAL anouncements about damage coming VERY SOON...
Looks like every other replay I've seen in the demo, just a different car. I love the demo and will buy the game, but I don't see why this "trailer" exists, or how it shows off how the "game is progressing" as it's nothing better than what's in previous trailers or the demo.
In my opinion GT5:P & GRID are two different games. Sure they both may be racing games, although one focuses on Simulation, while the other is a more Arcade-ish style game.
They both appeal to different groups of the racing genre.
If you feel GRID suits you better than GT5:P then that's just because it's you, it was your mistake for choosing a genre that isn't for you. It's not because it was hyped, or a worse game than GRID.
I will be getting this game on release and will be selling GT5 and Burnout to go towards the cost, Oh and Pro Street, GRID rocks, the demo rocked and GT5 is very boring.
I also believe these are 2 totally diffrent games. (GT5P and Grid) I have a G25 wheel and Playseat and all that. Hooked it up tonight to play the Grid demo. Ya know, it really didnt feel or play that well. I'm a big fan of racing games and have about everything offered that can use my wheel setup. To each his own but I will probably hold off on this for now.
I can't be the only one who doesn't like the feel of this game. I loved Dirt (I've got more hours dumped into it than any other ps3 game probably), but the driving model sucks in Grid. Sure the drifting feels nice, but the actual race races feels off. Like you can never tell what the heck the car is going to do, sometimes its hyperresponsive, sometimes you go sliding because it decides it wants to be more realistic for that one corner. I cancelled my preorder after playing the demo.
I know what you're saying. It IS different, but I don't think its more different then the control difference from game to game. It took a while to get used to the more "violent" camera movements but I liked it. It made every turn exciting and scary like racing at high speeds should be. I spun out once in a while but only when I would either floor the gas or the brakes.
We are so used to that as gamers we just have to get accustomed to the braking skills we use in real life. We never slam the brakes down to take a turn, we slowly depress the pedal. Once I started doing that it went much better for me.

The more I see GRID, the angrier I get that I spent $40 on that glorified demo that is GT5 Prologue.

Are you saying GRID isn't a driving game?
I guess that does make sense. You take Gran Turismo for a drive, but if you want to race, go elsewhere.

GT5 is "brighter" but I think GRID has better graphics. Not to mention better physics, camera angles, controls, and uh...fun.
