World Tour also has apparently taken hold of the idea to "record and release your own single" and will integrate user-created content into the game. At least this is one innovation to be found in World Tour that Rock Band hasn't already covered. Forgive us if we're being cynical, but the idea that Guitar Hero wants to further divide the market along with Konami makes us wonder if any of these new titles will be successful. World Tour and Konami's band game will both hit retailers sometime in Fall 2008. It'll be most fun to watch these two clones cannibalize each other.

I already have rock band and am not about to start a plastic drum collection.
Plus I have already bought songs online and dont want lose them because I have moved on to a new game.
If you dont own any of these games, the price of Rock Band should go down in the fall and there will already be a good chunk of songs to download by then.

I can't keep buying big drum sets for every new game. I only have a 1BR apartment and space is at a minimum. Sorry, but I'm not getting this game. I have rock band and one drum set is already a big enough PITA. Not only that, but I'm not paying $100+ for another game.

Well I don't know about you guys, but I live in a tiny apartment in Japan, and my real drum kit takes up about 1/6th of my apartment. That didn't stop me from importing Rock Band at a huge cost, and it won't stop me from getting both this and Rock Revolution either. I play Rock Band every night for at least half an hour. It's just a crapload of fun. Though I hope that A) both games have a non-bundled option from the start and B) their online community is more active than Rock Band's.

After GH3, I'm done with the series. I am very happy with Rock Band, and as long as they continue to support it with new music etc, it's all I really need.

What's interesting about this trailer is...
WHERE IS THE GAME FOOTAGE AT!!!!!!!!
That's a bad teaser and maybe a bad sign that they didn't show a single clip of game footage!!
Plus, like Guitar Hero On Tour the advertising looks awful too.
Epic Fail Activision

They probably don't have any polished up footage to show just yet. They just wanted to let everyone know it's coming and figure they'll tack on vocals and drum charts over the summer, roll it out in the fall. If they decide to prevent rock revolution from using Activision instruments then that'll be dead in the water. The only way I see this competing with Rock Band is if the drum kit actually works well and tons of people don't have to RMA everything. RedOctane might actually do that well, but I'll just stick with Rock Band.

what they need to do is scrap the whole band thing and continue to specialise in what theyve previously done, which they do well! Guitar Hero is ALL ABOUT LOUD AND ARROGANT GUITAR PLAYING and always should be, screw diluting the game with needless periferals. What they need to do is make some kind of 'Shred Store' where they can lovingly add and maintain a steady stream of content, and if that involves a new game with a more flexable interface, so be it. If they get the DLC sorted, they dont need needless pointless sequels. Today we see the death of guitar hero. The death of the father of rock games.

I thought it only had three drum pads, rather than four?
Either way, Konami invented this whole genre, and it's too bad they're coming in so late to the party because nobody seems to give them the recognition they deserve..
Oh well. Rock Band is good enough for me. I have my own real Roland drums, and the Rock Band drums. I can't crowd up my place with Konami's kit and Activision's kit.. Too bad they don't want to play nice with each other, these three companies.

I never bought Rockband, so I might end up getting this. If you guys haven't seen the preview in GI, you should really check it out. Song creation, really deep character customization, creating your own guitar, and a whole crap load of stuff I can't remember...
Regardless, this competition can only further the genre in the best possible way.

Wow, the first comment with some intelligent thought behind it. Competition is good, and this game looks solid, with a much more realistic layout for the kit.

Why can't the console manufactures like Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft do more to limit this kind of market fragmentation.
Their licensing scheme should outline a certain level of cooperation on new hardware accessories.
I would be more inclined to by both if this were the case.
