The first
Beyond Good & Evil was hailed by critics but largely ignored by the gaming populace when it was released several years ago. Was it the female lead? Was it the graphical style? Was it the lack of hard-headed space marines wielding impossibly large weapons? Who knows -- but it didn't fare too well on shelves. Not one to be discouraged, Michel Ancel, the man behind the original game, has been
working on a sequel for over a year. Aside from the year of preproduction, Ancel says his team is "currently doing market research. But for the moment, it's in the early stages, and Ubisoft still hasn't agreed to it."
The gameplay, Ancel describes, will be similar to the original. A large variety of levels and "emotional" gameplay -- characters we truly care about. No platforms or release date are mentioned, but with Ubidays coming right up, perhaps there will be an official announcement regarding the game at that time.

I really hope Ubisoft announces something about a sequel at Ubidays.
I will never understand why Beyond Good and Evil wasn't bigger than it was. Everyone I know that has played the original loved it.

I bought the first one up for PC and loved it. It played like a console game though so I would definately play the sequel if it came to PS3.

Same here. One of my top games of all time, and the ending totally begs for the sequel.. This HAS to happen, and it must be on PS3. If it turns out to be Xbox 360 exclusive, I'll buy the game and a 360, and then return the 360 within 30 days for a full refund. I'll keep the game, I guess.

I really liked the original game, but the pig support character did need some getting used too.
Also, sadly, the PC version had a horrible key combination that rended some parts almost unplayable unless you could get hold of a gamepad..

i'm stunned ... NEVER thought i'd see this.
In fact, I'd say I am as surprised as when i saw that Sam n max was becoming a graphic adventure again.
GREAT news! Really hope Ubi gives this another chance, as the game was HORRIBLY underated!!!

This is fantastic news and I really hope for a thumbs up. The original was one of the best designed games on the PS2. The story was fun, the controls were excellent, and it felt like playing a cartoon. With the PS3 capabilities, I really think they can take this to the next level. Hopefully they re-release the PS2 version so people can get the backstory from the first one if they didn't play it.

I got it for Gamecube. It's awesome, though I still have to finish it :(
Would be great if a sequel is coming.
