Slim Down for Summer with That's Fit

PS3 sales reach 9 million in fiscal 2008

For the financial year ending March 31, 2008, Sony Computer Entertainment managed to sell 9.24 PS3 consoles worldwide. That's an increase of 5.63 million systems from the previous fiscal year. (Note: Fiscal 2007 was much shorter for PS3, due to its November launch.) Sony's first year in this generation was admittedly lackluster, with the company receiving a lot of flak from the hardcore gaming community. Since then, a number of high-profile releases have earned PS3 a better portion of gamer mindshare.

Software sales also experienced a tremendous boom, jumping from the miniscule 13.3 million to 57.9 million. Obviously, with more systems, more games, and more time, sales of software will experience quite a boon. As good as these numbers are, PS3 is still in infancy -- we can't wait to see how well it does in the next 12 months.
