GRID comparison video simply 'a mistake' says Gametrailers EIC
Shane Satterfield has participated in an interview with Joystiq to set things straight. He states that the video showing PS3 footage as Xbox 360 footage was "a mistake" and that "some of the footage of the PlayStation 3 version of the game was incorrectly placed in the bin for the Xbox 360 footage." Satterfield states that there is no bias and that they haven't had any advertising from Microsoft for two years. Check out the full interview for more details.

There is so. They never mention ps3 in a lot of promotions for a game, like on the call of duty 4 guys choice awards, they only say xbox live.
They are liars, and paid off by microsoft. I will never trust them again.

Well, I think what Shane was trying to say is that MS didn't pay them off to skew the video... they just did that on their own. ;)
But yeah, they definitely take lots of money from MS for adverts. But I doubt they get paid off to make these skewed comparisons. It is, however, very obvious that they purposefully skew them.

No advertising from Microsoft? So they're trying to tell us Microsoft didn't pay for those Xbox 360 GTA IV banner ads?
Jokers.

The one I saw was PS3. Not sure we mean the same thing, but the background to the right and left of the main page contents. (I was surprised.)

So if they showed xbox footage of the spectacular crash and then the dull PS3 one everything would be tickety-boo?

You are right. It isn't just about the fact that both videos were from the PS3, but that they chose weak ones for the PS3, even though they clearly had ones that were better (that they labeled as 360)

I want to hear more on these comments they supposedly made. They're saying the videos on YouTube have faked commentary they never made... but I don't see why someone would go to that trouble...

Come on now.. people actually believed that this was done on purpose?? And that a video editing mistake couldn't have possibly occurred? People aren't that naive are they?

@ DeadPlasmaCell
I beilive they ACCIDENTALLY put PS3 footage on both comparisons.
I don't beilive they ACCIDENTALLY made the 360 crash look greater than the PS3 one.
Everybody knows GameTrailers is more biased to the 360 than 360fanboy is.

somebody tell the guy that not all viewers of gametrailers stupd btw...
better put a simple xbox log in their site(but they don't want to lose visits) than saying stuff than only "light"minds believe...
1)i guess the ads of gta4(xbox360) are not payed from m$ but are free...
2)burnout paradise comparison was removed and replaced...(so this isn't the first)
3)i guess that when they claimed the 360 has better damage than the ps3 were right...Let's see on the new version of the video or game

I wouldn't go as far as saying "I'll never trust them again". But honestly, do you REALLY think a company would admit any wrong-doing if it were true? Never. The fact that GT is noticeably 360 bias is just sad. "We haven't advertised with MS in two years." w/e, just look all over your site buddy. All the box shots for multiplatform games are ALL 360 covers instead of generic ones. I for one never watch these "comparison" videos, as it only sparks up annoying fanboys.

That doesn't explain why the cuts on the footage had boring ass lower speed head on crashes for stuff labeled PS3. And high speed flips and rollovers for the '360'.
So some footage was accidentally thrown in the 360 bin, so the editor took what he had and tried to make a video where PS3 still looked worse on top of that first mistake.

That was only a comment made in an edited version of the video on youtube. You can't trust it.
IMO the response is well written and convincing enough that it was a mistake. I'm not the only one that wanted to believe it was on purpose but I think I may have been wrong. Still, I don't completely trust their supposedly unbiased views.
It goes as a lesson to the fans, not passionately repeat what you heard as fact.

^ The comment wasn't something edited on youtube. It was all over N4G & Kotaku. It was all on the original vid posting too.

He's right about the commentary. GT doesn't put commentary on their comparisons. They just put a soundtrack to the footage. I haven't seen the user made videos, but I agree that is sad to do that.
Saying that, He's totally wrong about taking $$$ from Microsoft on ads and such. I don't know how he can say that. It's clear with the banner ads and videos that play in the game trailers that they've taken money from M$. I don't necessarily have a problem with that, but I do have a problem with him lying about it.
The footage was a clear mistake and wasn't a very good comparison to begin with. If they did it on purpose or it was just an accident, who knows. I think they should stop doing them as they don't serve much purpose.
My two cents.

I agree whole-heartedly. Either they are biased, or they are extremely incompetent.
I like how they try to make it out like it's a simple mistake. You're making COMPARISON videos. You only have TWO things to compare.
It's like messing up a recipe that only calls for two ingredients.
