Mike Griffith, the honcho over at Activision, has already released some statements regarding
Guitar Hero IV (presumably). The statement? It's
coming sometime this holiday season. Griffith is already starting to talk up the title, claiming they've "put a lot of additional development resources, a lot of additional music licenses resources, a lot of additional hardware supplier resources against the title to fuel growth over next year".
There are going to be some innovations for the next title -- expect something more along the lines of
Rock Band, like more instruments or vocals. That's really all we know right now, but at least you know you'll be plunking down more cash for more chances at heroism this holiday season.

I want a cowbell controller! Well, as long as Don't Fear The Reaper is on the tracklist.

why not just put more better songs up for download, if I wanted rockband, I'd get rockband. At least rockband puts out decent songs.

I am thinking something revolutionary, like
Guitar Hero 4: The Soprano Saxophone Hero: Kenny G
The kids would eat it up.

Activision needs to step it up and make a move that will win the hearts and minds of millions of nerds all around the world.... Guitar Hero- Metal. I can't get the idea of playing Opeth or Dark Tranquility songs on Guitar Hero out of my head.

Being able to play Opeth songs like "The Leper Affinity" or "Demon of the Fall" would be a dream come true.
Alas, I can't ever really see that happening.

I'm sick of games like this bleeding us dry. There is NO reason other than to gouge is to not just continue to give us downloaded content and software updates for characters, etc. Why can't there just be one Guitar Hero game and you pay for continued downloaded content? It sucks that to get Aerosmith, I need to pay $60 for the game, which is a separate disc. This type of game, like Rockband, DOES NOT need new versions of the GAME. The instruments, perhaps, but the game? Come on.

I disagree with you. It isn't great for consumers to pay $60 for a new GH rehash featuring Aerosmith, but at the same time IF it were cheaper, I believe it to be better than extra DLC content. Reason being that if it were a disc, at least I could resell it if I wanted to on craigslist, ebay, trade-in value. DLCs don't have any trade-in (or resale) value other than to "share them for free" w/ other people you've agreed with on GameFaqs and the likes.
E.g. I feel like I was bent over and received it hard when I purchased a load of DLC on Live! only to decide I didn't want to play the game anymore and sold it for cash towards something else. Oblivion, Forza, TDU comes to mind.
Of course I'm applying the above example to all DLCs, but i haven't really seen many game addon DLCs on PSN as much as I do on Marketplace.

Forgot to mention, best alternative would be like the PSN games Warhawk & GT5p where they come in DL or physical media form.

I can't imagine buying DLC for a game I wouldn't want to keep indefinitely.
@Martez
I'm not sure what you're trying to say, but Rock Band 2 will be capable of playing all existing DLC and it has been hinted that there might even be a way to play the on-disc Rock Band 1 songs on Rock Band 2 without switching discs.

@ Mike: yea I tend to purchase DLC for games I "thought" I would keep, but later down the purchase I realize it isn't a game I plan on playing forever, and wish I could only sell the game along w/ the DLC.
take for example Oblivion. I put in many hours to that game but towards the end, it just no longer held my interest.

so far guitar hero does not have a good track record of putting dlc out .seems like they do at the start and then forget about it for a few months .the new guitar hero will have to be pretty damn good and also give me a reach around for me to switch from rock band

Not as long as my continued boycott of Activision continues. As far as I'm concerned, Rock Band is the only fake-instrument music game in my future.

Aw, snap! Microsoft representative Aaron Greenberg says that Sony has failed to keep their promises as regards the PlayStation 3, failing to deliver the games that were promised prior to the release of the console, failing to deliver the online content they promised, and not having released the revolutionary PlayStation Home that was promised when people bought their PS3's.
Now, keep in mind that this isn't our opinion, but the words of a Microsoft rep, who is defending the XBox 360. Oh, and he also disputes the new sales figures that show that PS3 is outselling the 360 in Europe. We have only one thing to say

Well, what about GH: Aerosmith? Surely that must come out before number 4? GH: Aerosmith can't be number 4 either, and is most probably an expansion, judging by the UI, it's basically 3.
