Get a new look at these SOCOM Confrontation screens
SOCOM.com has been updating non-stop about the upcoming PSN title, SOCOM: Confrontation. With each update, they've included a screen or two, all of which we've compiled here. The title is being handled by Slant Six, which made the excellent (and underappreciated) SOCOM Tactical Strike on PSP. While Confrontation brings the series back to its roots, we have to echo the sentiment of many of our readers: this title doesn't look like it's pushing the PS3 very far, from a visual perspective. Hopefully, the gameplay will stay true to the SOCOM heritage.

Not sure what do you want on the visual aspect, but those screen shots looks better than COD4 in my opinion, the character looks more polished, see the faces and compare them to the COD4 ones that are more cartoony. the weapons look more realistic, and the lightning generated and not a lot of prebaked textures like on COD4

I think the visuals look pretty darn good......what made COD4 truly stand out visually was 60fps (and the smoke trails on the RPG!).

I don't know want hes talking about, those graphics look great. Possibly even beter than Call of Duty 4, and thats saying something! Just one question is will this be available on blu-ray because I always like to have a physical copy of a game for resell purposes and want not.

Looks very good for a SOCOM title. They've never been about graphics.

Yep, you gotta eat a GTA4 pill when looking at the SOCOM series. GTA has never been about graphics either.
That being said, COD4 buries this game in visuals but SOCOM has never been for the COD crowd anyway.

i can't wait for this game after reading the more in depth review in EGM. before reading that i wasn't sold on it but damn this game is goign to be good. and i don't know what's up with the grumpiness lately from the people who run the site, but those graphics look great, especially compared to the original gameplay footage that surfaced.

I think some people may have idolised COD4 a little too much, these graphics aren't that far behind.

SOCOM has never been about graphics. It has always been about the addicting gameplay (SOCOM 1&2). Though it is a vast improvement from the horrid looking SOCOM 3/Combined Assault.

Man people are so fickle now a days. GRAPHICS GRAPHICS ZOMG THEY R NOT PERFECT!!!11!11one!11!!!. We get it.. if it doesn't look as real as you going out your front door then it sucks. I loved socom 1 and 2 and some what 3. I never complained about the graphics because of the gameplay and addictiveness of it is what always brought me back. These look great considering what socom 2 was. I can't wait for this game. As long as game play and the addictiveness from socom 2 are in this.. then i am sold!

Yeah, but you can't tell what the gameplay will be like from screenshots. Graphics you can.
Also remember: poor graphics are a sign of a lazy, rushed game. If the devs didn't take the time to give the game even //average// graphics then you have to wonder if they took the time to give it even average gameplay.

But this is Socom Confrontation, a PSN title stop-gap Socom junky fix till Socom IV arrives.
Looks worthy.

What is the difference between this and Socom IV. Will Socom IV have a story mode and an online multiplayer mode which is better than Confrontation's? And Confrontation doesn't have a story mode? Is it sort of like the difference between GT5 Prologue and GT5? GT5 Prologue is sort of like a preview of what to expect in GT5.

SOCOM IV is being developed by Zipper and will have a story mode in a addition to online. Confrontation is being developed by Slant Six and is online only.
