We're not entirely sure why the devs for the multiplatform title Ghostbusters are setting themselves up the bomb with a flamebait remark like this, but apparently the PS3 version of the title is getting hampered thanks to the development on the 360. To soften this surefire console spit-fest, we're using an exciting kitty image, because everyone loves kittens for some reason.Terminal Reality has made headlines for saying that if they were allowed to make the game solely for the PS3, they "could double the amount of objects on screen that you're seeing," commenting also that "we've reserved one whole processor on the PS3 for Dolby Digital 5.1 sound whereas on the 360 you have part of one processor to do that." Take it however you want, but we know who we're gonna call this October. It's been way too long since that joke was even slightly relevant.

I think they are just making clear what has long been accepted. Microsoft has some way of forcing companies to make multi-console games identical. With the PS2 and XBOX 1.0, the PS2 games looked inferior. And PS3 exclusives are starting to look much better than multis.
So MS is screwing up the industry, and at least those game makers that are interested in making masterpieces, it must be deeply frustrating.
Imagine what GTA4 could have been...

Don’t believe the hype. The PS3 has 7 processors, six that process code and 1 that sorts. The 360 has three, but they each process two streams of code at the same time. It’s not really that much of a difference. He wouldn’t tell you if Sony demanded the PS3 be the lead. And remember, this companies claim to fame is Bloodrayne…. oh and Bloodrayne 2. We will see how good they are at programming since they put themselves out there like that though.

No, that's not right. Don't try to get into technical discussions if you don't even know what a processor is. And don't cuntpaste the opinions of people like you, either.

Exactly...GTA IV although amazing as it is, could have, no wait should have been a bigger jump than it is. Processors aside the storage capacity alone on a blu-ray disc could have allowed for a much larger environment and a lot more indoor environments. Not to worry, Rockstar's secret PS3 exclusive with blow the doors off everything and give us a glimpse of what GTA might have been....

Phizzy, I don't know if it was a typo but "cuntpaste" sounds pretty dead-on to me!

Yeah, I saw Ghostbusters. When I was 7. Sorry if I'm missing a reference because I can't remember a movie from the 80s line by line.

I have been saying that since i got a PS3... M$ is literally holding back the video game market. But until M$ drops out of the race (or better yet the console market) we wont see the full power of video games. And just imagine what GTAIV would look like if it was a PS3 exclusive (or any other game for that matter).... i have a feeling that the next GTA will be a PS3 exclusive .And im sure the developers have learned their lesson, if you want to create a Masterpiece stick with PS3.

Call of Duty 4 was made side by side with the 360 version from the ground up.
Games will look the same no matter what.

Microsoft isn't holding back the industry, the consumer is. The consumer overwhelmingly adopted the 360, for better or for worse, because it came out a year in advance and quickly established itself as a great gaming console.
The PS3, unfortunately, faltered out of the gate and is just now getting up to steam. As it stands, it has a significantly smaller install base (although that distance is shrinking every minute). The result, to make money on these big budget games, multiplats are a necessity.
On top of that, this situation is the exact reverse of last gen. PS2 games hindered the development of Xbox games because the PS2 hardware was inferior to that of the Xbox. Why? Because it released much earlier. No one dropped the PS2 because of its huge install base, but the technically superior xbox did draw attention, multiplats, and some exclusives.
Of course, the same thing is going to happen with the PS3. Eventually, the PS3 multiplats will be much better than their 360 counterparts, and developers want to take the superior PS3 hardware and make exclusives (such as the R* Exclusive, etc).

Who says it would look any better? Resistance Fall of Man is PS3 exclusive and compared to Gears of War, it sucks. Just give the dribble a rest.

Well this is why I think another Xbox is inevitable, and that will happen when the PS3 is just a couple years into it's life-time, flexing it's CELL and whatnots!

Weaker games!?!?
What a crime. Everybody had to run out and buy a console that the developers called weak before it even launched.

Sony owns Ghostbusters. Maybe they had an incentive to say these things.
I still think if what he's saying is true, there is no reason they shouldn't make the PS3 one as good as it could be, but it could prove to be a below-the-belt swipe at Microsoft for the above reason - making the 360 version worse rather than PS3 better.

This dev must be so ignorant to pretend that the PS3 have 7 processors when everybody know it have only one and 7 (6 since one is reserved for the system) slaves that can't have a life on their own...
The XBOx 360 can handle 6 process at once each having it life on it's own.

Surely you jest.
Don't you mean that the PS3 has a processor with 8 cores, with one reserved for redundancy? And that the 360 is a tri-core processor? And what are you talking about when you say that the 360 can run 6 processes with a life of its own?
And when you talk of slaves, surely you understand the concept of a multi-core processor?
Do you know how computer architecture works? You must be joking, because if you were serious, you would be a huge idiot.
Huge. Idiot. gb2joystiq.
