Harmonix and MTV announce first complete album download, more to come
All 10 tracks on the album are original master recordings. The full album is priced at $14.99, but if you just want individual songs, you can still purchase any of the ten tracks for $1.99 a pop. Also, Newsweek's N'Gai Croal got the scoop on next month's downloadable album: "The Cars" by The Cars. The future of full albums will continue to grow with "Doolittle" by The Pixies, which is expected for June.

I've positively no interest in any of those albums mentioned, but it's a great idea. When's "Nevermind" coming?

Same here. Where's my Nevermind!
Oh and this is not the first announcement of complete album downloads. They announced others last year, they just never delivered. They actually had said "Nevermind and [whatever the other one was] will be available as full album downloads by the end of the year." I'll believe it when I see it.

If you like Nirvana you should be very interested in the Pixies.
Not only is "Doolittle" an amazing album, but Kurt Cobain himself is quoted in Rolling Stone saying that "Smells Like Teen Spirit" was his attempt to write a Pixies song.

This is very disappointing to me. I was really hoping for Nevermind. 0/3 on the full albums for me! Good job Harmonix!

I'm waiting for them to come out with some Incubus...Guitar Hero 1 had a terrible remake of Stellar, but I think if the guys from Incubus would let them, some of their stuff would be great on Rock Band...maybe some Phish too ;-)

Basically. The Boston 6-pack, coupled with the on-disc "Foreplay/Long Time" leaves us one track short of having their full debut album.

Sigh.. Why can't we get GOOD DLCs for Rockband? Why are we only getting what the people who work there want released and not what the people who actually paid for Rockband want? They really need to hire a current generation employee who gets current and not so long ago songs released for DLC.

I look at this as just more tracks, only a lot all at once. I'm not gonna buy the whole album just because it's there. I'll get some tracks that I know I like. I like a couple on the Judas Priest and The Cars album. But at least it doesn't interrupt the regular flow of DLC. The best thing about Rock Band DLC is the consistency.

Being that I'm a total Rock Band whore and buy everything that is released, these full albums are going to put a small dent in my beer money. At least they are only releasing one a week (for now?).
Suggestion: Dark Side of the Freakin' Moon for an album download!
