Unreal Tournament III gets price drop: to be $40 everywhere
With a recently released free map pack and a growing collection of user-generated mods, there's never been a better time to jump into the UT community. Hopefully, this price drop will give the game the attention it never received at launch.

I'd say part of why it never had the sales of Gears is it never had the advertising, and it launched during a very busy point in the year. If you don't let people know your product is out there, you shouldn't act surprised when they don't buy it instead of the heavily promoted and talked about stuff.

Or that maybe it's just isn't as good at all.

I've played both, and Gears is better, but it's not the orgasmic experience all xbox owners would have people believe. They're completely different play styles for one, so the only reason they ever get compared is because they were made by the same people.

I have both, but I'll admit I never touched UT3. I got it at Christmas time, I played against the bots for an hour or two, but I found Call of Duty way too addicting to even try UT3 online. With the summer coming up and more time, I'm gonna try to give it a chance.

I also have both, and never really played UT3 so much cause of COD4. However, I started playing with the keyboard and mouse in UT3 and it makes it sooooo much more fun. Not to mention playing Shipment in UT3 is craaaaaaaaaaaazzzzzzzzy! Thats some really fun stuff. But I mean, if for one 1 reason, you should buy UT3 for the fact it'll never get old with all the maps, mutators (tiny mods), mods, player models, etc. I dont think i've ever played the same map like over and over and over like in COD4, theres ALWAYS a new map to try in UT3. You know, things should stay fresh on the UT3 side

@thinkofmeasmra ....
yeah that's a good point... I wish at least one of my friends had it ... to give it a test run before getting it....
That real mouse/keybourd deal is not bad.... but I use FragFX with CoD4 and I love it ... gives me that playing with the mouse feel....

@Seminole...
thanks man... that's the reason i haven't got it.... i don't even touch any of the games that i've got since I started playing CoD4 the day it came out........ (is sick I know)....
@tretle .....
maybe ... I have never played the single player on CoD4... so that would not make a difference for me...

Hmmm, I wonder if it would have fared better on the 360 if released under the same circumstances (next-to no press, last minute release, busy holiday season...etc.)
My guess is not much better...

I was excited about this game when it was announced but then I heard it had NO multiplayer splitscreen so I blew it off. Tell them to add that and I may buy it.

I just picked up UT3 a few days ago for $35 and I thought I got a great deal, but now I know why it was so low.

i think they are worried about hackers since 360 doesn't have a browser either.
but really, you are still play UT 3 either way. which can be a good or bad thing....

Forget the mods! I would rather have the splitscreen and five other maps...this annoys so much I'm definatly not picking the game up.

Yeah I hear you. I would love me some splitscreen. I might trade this in and get me the 360 version when it drops. I DO have more friends on LIVE than on PSN anyway and I havent gotten any mods so who knows. Have to see if any of my buds are gonna get it.

"Epic's PS3-early Unreal Tournament III never found the success of its previous titles, like Gears of War."
I wonder if this had anything to do with a lack of a REAL story and single player experience. I know UT is mainly the multiplayer experience... but with making such an excellent story (and game) in Gears, they kinda dropped the ball here.

I technically have the game as my friend never plays it but now I can get it. YAY! This plus Gran Turismo makes me happy.

I hate how every official Atari host has Keyboard and Mouse enabled. So in order for me to play on a server that doesn't have a 200 ping, I have to play against people using Kb&M.
