The future is Blu: what lies ahead?
Hennessey had an interview with Three Speech where he discusses what the future holds for Blu-ray on the film and television side of things. A lot was discussed; specifically, that innovative features like Blu-wizard (as seen in Resident Evil: Extinction and Black Hawk Down) will continue to grow and improve. Companies like Disney will bring their back-catalogs to Blu-ray, taking advantage of Blu-ray's interactive abilities. Example given: Disney plans for a Sleeping Beauty release that "features a virtual castle to explore and an interactive game currently known as Maleficent's challenge."
Now, how does the ability to "sit down with friends around the world and watch a movie together" sound to you? Or how about "an on-demand trivia quiz for the film you're watching" that might even allow you to use Buzz! controllers? It's all rather interesting, so why not read the whole interview over at Three Speech.

Hitman has already been released on Blu-ray (same day as DVD).
As for the older movies... those take time. The studio can't flood the market with old movies because people wouldn't be able to afford them all (and replicators wouldn't be able to produce them all either).
I'm still waiting on Paramount to announce their return to Blu-ray with some movies, and the first titles from Universal.

That's what I was going to mention... Where the hell are you Universal and Paramount?!?! It would be nice if they could give us a vague future release list or plans of some sort, but so far not even a peep. Makes them just look like sore losers because they sure aren't trying to show any Blu support at all.

that's part of the problem. because they were backing hd-dvd, they didn't have any orders with the few BD disc replicator companys (sony being one of, if not the biggest). all the other games and movie studios have had their orders lined up and authored for months. even if paramount, and universal finish authoring quickly, 9which i doubt in univerals case.) they have to wait in line behind others who already had orders in.
maybe paramount should use a little of that 150mil they got from toshiba to ask fox or warner to cut in line. or maybe not, the money lost for not launching a movie like transformers on BD with the dvd version is already gone, and those who would pick it up today likely will do so tommrow too.

I understand that alienclays but they could still give us a hint on future releases or plans without posting release dates at least. Or at least explain what's going on just like what you just tried to do except an official update from the studios.

@ alienclays:
How soon a Blu-ray comes out probably will matter if it is a new release. I would assume that the movie studios would want to build off the initial hype of the movie itself before it wanes from memory. Still I think some of the profit lost could be regained by being at the bottom of the list.
Still, I don't get to catch every movie, and I look for those I miss in Tuesday's new releases. If I can't buy Blu-Ray, I'll probably buy DVD, but I certainly won't buy both - except for sci-fi movies that look glorious on HD.

Hitman came out same day as DVD although Blockbuster didn't have the bluray available to rent for at least two weeks. I eventually bought it on bluray and it looks good.
as for stuff from HD-DVD migrating to Bluray ... I noticed on dvdempire that Batman Begins will be available in July. No signs of Transformers yet.

I'm a big fan of HD and Blu-ray, but BD-LIVE is just a solution in desperate need of a problem. Nobody wants to watch movies wearing a headset, or download a trailer when you've got the whole movie on the disc. Ringtones? No thanks.
The only reason the studios want Blu-ray players to be connected to the internet is so they can update the DRM if it gets hacked. At the moment there is nothing here that is the slightest bit useful or interesting for the average end user.
