I never understood why the old “interface” wasn't good enough, but it's free so I can't complain.

Since the new store is software based it has a faster, more fluid interface. Also, the store's new preview function allows you to view a video or screenshots of a game without leaving the store.
Those are probably the biggest advantages over the old, web-based, interface but I'm sure there will be other minor advantages.

The old one was software based as well. The web browser is software.

The old interface was just way too slooooooooooooooooooow.. besides that, it did the job ok. I'm personally excited about the new design.

Personally I don't get all the hype about the redesign. Maybe I have to play with it to see what the big deal is.

I didn't think the first one was very good but not because of the looks, more because of how you navigated. I was annoyed whenever I had to navigate back through every page that I looked at when I really wanted to go back to the previous menu (like if I clicked through 3 pages of Action games and I wanted to get back to the genre menu I had to click back 4 times). I don't care how it looks as long as it performs better than the old store.

The new store looks better, I just hope it's also more functional. The old store just seemed so last minute, like they realized they needed something but weren't sure what to do.

Why doesn't PS3Fanboy.com use the same polls as Engadget and EngadgetHD? I hate PollCode.com!

I can't wait for this. I absolutely hate the current set up. So hard to navigate. And the mere fact that the new one will use X to select and circle to go back will be so much easier to use.
