It seems the formerly-financially-disabled company Interplay got quite a bit of cash for leaving
Fallout 3 in the command of Bethesda Softworks, because they've
officially gone back into business. Their plans? Sequels galore! Their first order of business, probably to keep funds rolling in, is to get a
Fallout MMO out into the market. This should work, since the world of
Fallout simply begs for an MMO-inspired tale.
With the money gained from that, they plan to get cracking on established brands we haven't heard of since the original PlayStation -- like the
MDK series. They were hard, but so very fun. Other very exciting projects would be
Earthworm Jim,
Descent, and
Dark Alliance. We're very excited to have Interplay back and look forward to seeing what the future holds for them!

actually, according to IGN, many of Interplay's big franchises were last heard on the PS2, not the PS1. ;)
Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, Giants: Citizen Kabuto, and MDK2 Armageddon were all PS2 titles.

You're more or less correct. But I suppose I did instill a bit of personal bias in my post -- I thought MDK2 was far inferior to the first, and truly, SNES Earthworm Jim games were the height of hilarity in gaming. I actually haven't heard much of Giants, though I have heard great things about Baldur's Gate.
I'll go ahead and claim that statement as an "Eye of the Beholder" remark =)

I didn't know MDK made it to a console. That's pretty cool. I loved those games. I bought a force-feedback joystick just for MDK.
I did play Baulder's Gate: Dark Alliance, but I was really disappointed. But then again, I was a fan of the Baulder's Gate franchise and Dark Alliance was a radical departure from it.

Very high risk plan, with a very big pay off. Question is can they do it. MMOs are not cheap.

Am I the only person who loved Descent? I still put it in the PS3 every once in a while and play for a few hours. I loved that game (1 and 2 both).
Here's hoping for another one!

I've always said Earthworm Jim would be a great "Brawl" character. Maybe now that dream can become a reality.
